Middle East-Taiwan Action-Comedy ‘Masala Boba’ Reunites Kleos, Light House at Cannes Market (EXCLUSIVE)

India’s Kleos Entertainment Group and Taiwan’s Light House Productions are strengthening their productive alliance, showcasing their second joint production, “Masala Boba,” at the Cannes Film Market.

This project is continuing in the wake of the forthcoming Taiwan-India action-comedy “Demon Hunters,” due to hit theaters in winter 2025. The action-packed, humorous film is being directed by Uzair Merchant.

As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my upcoming project, “Masala Boba,” is being designed with a global audience in mind. This action-comedy masterpiece will be a unique blend of high-energy action sequences and side-splitting humor, all while showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of both Middle Eastern and Taiwanese locales. The cameras will start rolling in early 2026!

Cindy Shyu, a producer at Light House Productions, stated that Cannes is an ideal venue for debuting a film like ‘Masala Boba,’ as it mirrors our dedication to both significant and entertaining global co-productions. This film, in terms of its narrative and production, embodies the essence of international collaboration and its impact.

The project has earned backing from institutions, as Jennifer Jao, vice chair of the Taipei Film Commission, points out: “Masala Boba” embodies the type of daring, multi-cultural storytelling that matches our aim to be a worldwide center for creative advancement. We are pleased to back a project that not only brings together talent but also demonstrates the strength of international co-productions in connecting audiences through common tales and varied perspectives.

Gayathiri Guliani, co-producer at Kleos Entertainment Group, stated: “The Middle East is a hub of diverse cultures worldwide, and this tale beautifully embodies that essence with uniqueness and emotion. We’re excited about the direction our project has taken and are deeply appreciative of the backing provided by the Taipei Film Commission and authorities in the Middle East film industry.

The director, Merchant, described the movie as “an exciting journey that blends different genres – a mix of turbulence, tradition, and humor.” He further emphasized that this is an opportune moment for innovative, globally resonant stories that transcend cultural barriers.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that the movie “Masala Boba” has entered pre-production phase! The details with our Middle Eastern production partners are being meticulously wrapped up. Can’t wait to see this cinematic journey unfold on the big screen!
