If you’re hoping to buy an Xbox this holiday season, it’s best to do it soon. Microsoft has announced another price increase for its consoles.
Starting October 3rd, Xbox prices are changing in the US. The Xbox Series S, which is the most affordable option with 512 GB of storage, will now cost $400. The premium Xbox with a disc drive and 2 TB of storage will be priced at $800. Here’s a look at the rest of the updated prices for all Xbox models:
- Xbox Series S 512GB — $400 (was $380)
- Xbox Series S 1TB — $450 (was $430)
- Xbox Series X Digital — $600 (was $550)
- Xbox Series X — $650 (was $500)
- Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition – $800 (was $730)
Microsoft has raised its prices for the second time this year, following an increase in May. The company attributes these price changes to the current economic climate. Pricing will remain unchanged for customers outside of the United States.
Over the past year, the cost of gaming consoles, games, and accessories has been steadily rising, and many believe this is due to tariffs implemented by the current US government. However, most companies haven’t publicly confirmed this connection.
PlayStation also increased its prices earlier this year, and Nintendo faced some delays with Switch 2 pre-orders as they considered their options. When the Switch 2 launched, many gamers found that games and accessories cost more than they anticipated. Just recently, Nintendo even made the original Switch more expensive.
