Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Requires Fraction Of Storage Space Versus Last Game

As a seasoned aviator with countless hours logged in the skies, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and relief as I hear about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The prospect of a more streamlined installation process, thanks to cloud streaming, is music to my ears (and my hard drive). Gone are the days of having to clear out vast chunks of storage just to download the latest update.

In November when Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 hits both PC and Xbox Series X|S, it will occupy significantly less space compared to its predecessor. To be precise, the new version only needs around one-fifth of the storage space required by the previous game: 30GB instead of over 150GB.

Xbox Wire delved into the details of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and pointed out that its installation size has been significantly reduced. The key factor behind this is cloud streaming. Microsoft emphasizes that the sequel will stream with higher resolution for your aerial journeys, which means you won’t need to download all of Europe if you’re only planning to take off from the U.S. In other words, instead of storing vast regions on your device, you can access and play them via cloud streaming.

Sebastian Wloch, CEO and cofounder of Asobo Studio, mentioned that what matters most is the significant drop in overall bandwidth usage. This reduction occurs because you only download content as it appears on your screen, and we avoid pre-downloading massive amounts of data, like hundreds of gigabytes. Now, everything has been integrated into the cloud and streamed instead. You won’t need to install any new World Updates; they will be seamlessly streamed directly to your hardware.

Microsoft and Asobo have highlighted the career mode of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, designed to mimic genuine aviation experiences. This implies that players can select any airport featured in the upcoming game and progress by completing a tiered system of certifications.

Last year at the Xbox Game Showcase, the upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was revealed. This year, during the same event, it was announced when this sequel would be released – November 19th is the launch date. Excitingly, the standard version of the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass as a day-one title.
