As a supporter of dynamic and experienced industry professionals, I am thrilled about the appointments at Warner Bros. Discovery. The expansion of Michael Brooks’ role to General Manager for Australia and New Zealand is a testament to his remarkable achievements within the company since 2016. His extensive background in leadership positions at BBC Studios and Endemol Shine North America, coupled with his tenure at Warner Bros., positions him perfectly to oversee all non-theatrical businesses locally.
Michael Brooks has been appointed GM for Australia and New Zealand at Warner Bros. Discovery.
Beyond his current position as Managing Director at Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia, Brooks is now taking on an extended role effective immediately. He will report directly to James Gibbons and Ronald Goes, who hold the title of Presidents at WBITVP.
Brooks joined our company back in 2016, but before that, he had already invested over a decade in the United States. During this period, he held top-tier roles at BBC Studios and Endemol Shine North America.
In his newly enlarged role, Brooks will now manage all non-theater related businesses domestically, which include networks, streaming services, content licensing, home entertainment, consumer products, and gaming, as well as WBITVP Australia. However, WBITVP New Zealand continues to report directly to the WBITVP headquarters in London and is not included within Brooks’ expanded responsibilities.
On a separate note, our Chief Financial Officer for APAC, Justin Emmer, has chosen to part ways with the company at the close of this year. Gibbons expressed gratitude towards Emmer, stating, “Justin has been an exceptional collaborator for me and our leadership team in managing our financial affairs and furthering the region’s strategic aims. I would like to extend my appreciation to Justin for his commitment and wish him every success in his future endeavors.”
Nilesh Zaveri is set to commence his new role as Senior Vice President, simultaneously holding positions as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO) for APAC, starting on September 9th. He will report directly to Trey Turner, the international CFO. In this dual capacity, Zaveri will oversee financial operations in the APAC region and offer support for business operations and planning across the same area. His contributions will focus on growth initiatives, while also striving for operational excellence and efficiency.
Nilesh Zaveri brings over two decades of multifaceted leadership experience across Asia into his new role at WBD. In his most recent position, he served as the Managing Director for VICE Media Group’s APAC operations, where he spearheaded the establishment of the regional business, leading to significant increases in revenue and audience engagement. Before that, Nilesh held various executive financial positions at VICE, Discovery, and Fox.
According to WBD, Zaveri’s ability to blend a comprehensive global perspective with an insightful grasp of regional market trends and industry nuances makes him a pivotal collaborator as we aim to expand more extensively within the APAC region.
