Michael B. Jordan’s Thomas Crown Affair Remake Finally Has a Release Date!

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that we’re now making strides with the remake of “The Thomas Crown Affair”. Since 2016, Michael B. Jordan, who shone in Sinners, has been linked to this project, reprising the role initially played by Steve McQueen in the original movie.

On March 5, 2027, the new adaptation of “The Thomas Crown Affair” by Amazon MGM Studios is scheduled for cinema and IMAX release. Currently, only two other films set to premiere on that day are unnamed productions from Disney and Warner Bros./DC Studios. The upcoming version of “The Thomas Crown Affair” marks a new interpretation of the film, over twenty years after its 1999 remake based on the original 1968 heist movie starring Pierce Brosnan and Reno Russo, which grossed $124.3M worldwide against a $48M budget.

In the period spanning from late 2000s to early 2010s, plans were underway for a sequel to the Brosnan remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. However, MGM chose to go a new direction when Michael Douglas (Jordan) pitched an idea for a fresh remake in 2016, wanting to star in it. Drew Pearce is currently penning the script for this upcoming film. Earlier drafts for the movie were written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson, based on the original storyline. The specifics of Jordan’s interpretation are being kept confidential at the moment. Previous installments revolved around a charming, wealthy man who orchestrated art heists.

Sinners Keeps Breaking Horror Movie Records

Amazon’s latest release, “The Thomas Crown Affair,” follows as Jordan’s latest big-screen project. Meanwhile, the original film by Ryan Coogler, titled “Sinners,” is dominating the box office. After breaking records as the first R-rated horror movie to do so, “Sinners” has made a significant impact on the horror genre. Last weekend, it topped the box office with an impressive $48 million, and this week, it’s expected to continue its successful run, facing only competition from the sequel of “The Accountant,” starring Ben Affleck.

As a fervent advocate, I’d say: In the role of a storyteller, let me share my thoughts on “Sinners,” a masterpiece penned and directed by Coogler. This gripping tale is set in the Mississippi Delta during the year 1932, focusing on twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore as they make their way back home, seeking a fresh start. However, their journey takes an ominous turn when they encounter an otherworldly evil. The stellar cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.

In their creative collaboration, Ryan Coogler serves both as the director and leading actor. They have previously teamed up in the biographical drama Fruitvale Station (2013), the Rocky spinoff Creed (2015) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Black Panther movies – Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). It is anticipated that Coogler will resume his role as writer and director for Black Panther 3, though it remains undecided if Jordan will reprise his character, Killmonger.

At present, you can catch the movie “Sinners” in the cinemas, and on March 5, 2027, “The Thomas Crown Affair” is set to premiere on the big screen.
