Michael B. Jordan’s MCU Comeback: 10 Multiverse Roles You Never Saw Coming!

There’s a possibility that Michael B. Jordan might reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe down the line, and it’s exciting to consider. Even though I’d enjoy seeing him as Killmonger once more, I think there are even more intriguing avenues for his return via the multiverse. Michael B. Jordan made his debut in the MCU with “Black Panther” in 2018. His portrayal of Erik Killmonger, a complex villain, was instrumental in making the film the sole MCU production to be nominated for the prestigious Best Picture Oscar.

As a dedicated film enthusiast, I was thrilled to see myself make a brief appearance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as the character Killmonger, even though my character was deceased, he made an appearance on the Ancestral Plane alongside Shuri. Interestingly enough, I also lent my voice to a variant of Killmonger in the animated What If…? series. The intriguing concept of the multiverse allows for the possibility of me reprising my role as Killmonger in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions, potentially in an alternate version. After watching Sinners, I wholeheartedly hope that this collaboration continues and extends my time within the MCU. In fact, I have a few multiverse roles in mind that would make this dream a reality.

10. Black Panther

The Lead Role In The Franchise That Brought Him To The MCU

In a possible future scenario for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), there is speculation that Michael B. Jordan could step into the role of Black Panther, following Chadwick Boseman who initially played the character T’Challa. This potential development arises from Marvel’s reported openness to recasting T’Challa through the multiverse, given their earlier decision not to replace Boseman after his passing.

The actor has a significant presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s main character’s circle. Moreover, Jordan shares a long-standing professional bond with director Ryan Coogler, featuring in every one of his films. What truly sets him apart for the role is that the actor has always wanted to portray T’Challa. In fact, Black Panther was Michael B. Jordan’s cherished dream Marvel character. If T’Challa were to be recast in the MCU, I believe a gifted actor with franchise background and genuine affection for the hero would make an ideal pick.

9. Brother Voodoo

The Black Panther Franchise Already Offers The Perfect Connection

Towards the finale of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” it emerged that T’Challa, portrayed by Boseman, and Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong’o, had a son named Toussaint, who goes by T’Challa just like his father. This young T’Challa resides in Haiti with his mother, coincidentally the homeland of a supernatural comic book character known as Brother Voodoo. Introducing Jericho Drumm into the MCU would be intriguing, as it would provide Jordan with an opportunity to explore diverse roles.

Black Panther Movie Release Year

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever 2022
Black Panther 3 TBD

The actor’s ties with the Black Panther series might make Brother Voodoo an engaging addition to Black Panther 3 and subsequent films. This character could aid Nakia and Toussaint in avoiding potential perils. Jordan not only possesses the acting talent to bring such a complex role to life — as Voodoo commands the spirit of his wicked brother — but also boasts the star power that could propel him towards the anticipated Midnight Suns adaptation.

8. Cyclops

The Field Leader Of The X-Men

In a forthcoming event, Cyclops is set to mark his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Previously known for playing Scott Summers in Fox’s X-Men films, James Marsden will reprise this role in Avengers: Doomsday. The success of Marvel Studios’ animated series X-Men ’97 demonstrated their ability to portray Cyclops authentically and effectively, transforming him into the leader he was destined to be in that show. If Marsden gets the opportunity to embody Cyclops’ true potential, Michael B. Jordan might step into the role of Scott Summers in the MCU.

As a dedicated Marvel fan, I can’t help but get excited about the upcoming X-Men movie in development by Marvel Studios. This film seems poised to reboot the team for the MCU, and if the rumors are true that Michael B. Jordan might be part of it, then we could be seeing him as one of the X-Men’s leaders for another decade!

Just look at his performance in the Creed franchise – he’s proven time and again that he has the grit and determination needed to breathe life into a character like Scott Summers. I can only imagine what he’d bring to the table as a member of this iconic team!

7. Mister Sinister

Another Villain Role Would Suit The MCU Star

As a die-hard fan, I must say that Jordan’s first appearance in the MCU proved beyond doubt that when Marvel is searching for an exceptional villain, they need not look further than this talented actor. Mister Sinister presents a captivating role for Jordan for several reasons. One of them being that the character’s distinctive appearance would make Jordan almost unrecognizable beneath the makeup, providing a fresh and exciting take on the character without even needing to traverse the multiverse.

Jordan seems well-suited for the role of X-Men villain, given his acting prowess as demonstrated in movies like Sinners. He excels at portraying charismatic characters with a touch of menace, much like he did in the popular vampire film. In essence, Jordan has the ability to create an authentic portrayal of Mister Sinister’s entertaining yet chilling personality, making him an unforgettable antagonist.

6. Blade

The MCU Might Need To Recast A Hero Who Has Never Even Debuted

The Blade project, part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has become quite challenging for Marvel Studios. Back in 2019, Mahershala Ali expressed interest in portraying the vampire hunter and even approached the studio. However, as we stand today, five years later, Blade does not appear any nearer to becoming a reality. Given that Ali is now 51 and Marvel has made little progress on the project, it might be wise to reconsider the casting and start fresh.

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I can’t help but see the potential in the collaboration of Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler for Marvel Studios’ Blade movie. Jordan demonstrated his knack for playing a hero amidst a universe of vampires in Sinners, and Coogler, who’s been steering the Black Panther franchise, directed that film. With these two powerhouses joining forces once more in the MCU’s Blade project, it could be exactly what this movie needs to finally take flight.

5. Blue Marvel

A Mentor to A New Generation Of Heroes

As a die-hard Marvel fan who’s had the privilege of embodying Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, and later bringing Killmonger to life in the MCU, I’ve got quite a history with this universe. At 38, I could be considered a seasoned veteran, potentially guiding the next wave of Marvel Cinematic Universe stars. Rumors are swirling that the franchise might undergo a soft reboot post-Avengers: Secret Wars.

In simpler terms, the statement suggests that Jordan’s acting prowess could extend beyond just young characters, such as those in the X-Men series within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). He might also step into roles previously held by characters like Captain America and Iron Man. Given his ability to portray an intelligent, compassionate, and powerful character, Jordan could potentially bring Blue Marvel to life in the MCU, a character who has been relatively underused in comics. This could make Blue Marvel a respected figure that the younger superheroes aspire to learn from.

4. Gambit

The Actor Has All The Flair Needed To Make Remy LeBeau Work

In a turn of events, Channing Tatum was able to embody the character of Gambit following the lengthy production process of his standalone movie. Remarkably, in this film, Tatum’s portrayal of Gambit turned out to be a major success, to the extent that he is set to reprise the role in Avengers: Doomsday. Given that Tatum is currently 44 years old, it seems more plausible for Marvel to link his version of Gambit with Fox’s X-Men universe and find another actor to play the character within their cinematic universe (MCU).

As a movie enthusiast, I can attest that despite Michael B. Jordan being just six years younger than Channing Tatum, he effortlessly exudes an aura of someone in his early 30s. The Sinners film serves as a testament to his captivating charm and suave demeanor, which makes him a perfect fit for the flirtatious role of Gambit. Remy LeBeau is one of Marvel’s most laid-back heroes, and with Jordan at the helm, he could undeniably light up the big screen.

3. Silver Surfer

The MCU Already Has A Very Different Silver Surfer

In the upcoming movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” we’ll get to see the introduction of the Silver Surfer character. However, it’s important to note that this initial version of the character in the MCU doesn’t match the classic one. Instead, Julia Garner from “Ozark” takes on the role of Shalla-Bal, a character associated with the Silver Surfer. The legendary comic book character, Norrin Radd, is who Silver Surfer truly is. Given his past roles that demanded similar stoicism, Michael B. Jordan would make a great fit as the male Silver Surfer.

In addition, Silver Surfer is a character who can be easily understood across various universes. In the case of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Garner’s Silver Surfer hails from an alternate universe since the story takes place on a different Earth. On the other hand, Jordan’s portrayal of the character could originate from another universe or even the main Marvel Cinematic Universe itself. Notably, Norrin Radd’s appearance would allow Jordan to play the role convincingly after having previously played Killmonger without causing any confusion among viewers.

2. Luke Cage

The MCU’s Street-Level Corner Recently Received A Major Shakeup

Mike Colter portrayed Luke Cage in Netflix’s The Defenders Saga, and although various characters from this series have reappeared with their original cast members within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Luke Cage has not made a comeback as of yet. However, the first season of Daredevil: Born Again has provided an opportunity for his return. In the conclusion of the show’s inaugural season, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil determined that he needed to gather an army to confront Wilson Fisk.

If things go as planned, more of Netflix’s Defenders could show up. But if Simone Missick (Luke Cage) doesn’t reprise her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Michael B. Jordan would be an excellent choice to step into those shoes. Even if she does return, it’s not impossible that Jordan could join a multiverse Defenders team that interacts with the MCU’s Defenders in one of the future Avengers films. The strength and invincibility portrayed by Michael B. Jordan in the Creed series make him an ideal fit for Luke Cage.

1. Kang The Conqueror

The Easiest Role To Recast Through The Multiverse

Initially, Kang the Conqueror was planned as the chief antagonist in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga. However, when Jonathan Majors parted ways with Marvel, Robert Downey Jr. stepped into the role of Doctor Doom instead. This shift doesn’t necessarily mean that Kang will be completely erased from Marvel’s plans. By introducing a well-known actor like Michael B. Jordan, who has ties to the MCU, Kang could potentially be revived and have a new lease on life within the universe.

In the grand scene of the Council of Kangs in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” Marvel introduced Kang variants resembling Majors, but it’s possible that a change in casting could be explained by stating that the new Kang character hails from a different dimension. Given their friendship, it might be Jordan who takes up Majors’ role within the franchise. Throughout his acting career, Michael B. Jordan has demonstrated the versatility required for portraying various Kangs and the strength to make the character of Kang the Conqueror truly intimidating.
