The planned release date for the Metroid Prime retrospective book, titled “Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective,” has been pushed back from June 24 to October 28. Originating from Piggyback, a publisher renowned for its stunning Legend of Zelda guidebooks, this upcoming publication was announced last fall. You have the opportunity to pre-order Metroid Prime 1-3: A Visual Retrospective for $46.49 on Amazon, and if you pre-order now, you’ll be eligible for any promotional discounts offered by Amazon before it is released.
Fans initially expected the release of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to coincide with the Summer 2025 launch of the game, given the strategic timing for book releases alongside new games. However, since the specific release date for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond remains undetermined beyond a broad 2025 window, it’s not surprising that the publication date of the 212-page hardcover book has been postponed. If Metroid Prime 4 does indeed come out this year on Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch, a fall or holiday launch seems probable.
This hardcover book, wrapped in cloth, boasts a stitched binding and an intricate metallic foil cover design that showcases the famous Varia suit worn by Samus Aran. Piggyback is using premium, art paper sourced from sheets to exhibit the concept art and sketches created during the development of the original Metroid Prime (2002), Prime 2: Echoes (2004), Prime 3: Corruption (2007), and the upcoming remastered version, Metroid Prime Remastered (2023).
As I delve into this game, not only do I marvel at the stunning visuals, but I also get an exclusive peek behind the scenes thanks to comments straight from the minds of Retro Studios developers, including the esteemed Nintendo producer, Kensuke Tanabe.
Previously, Piggyback has created captivating strategy manuals for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
