As a dedicated Nintendo enthusiast, I can’t help but harbor dreams of diving back into the captivating world of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Shadowdrop. The recent advertisement stirred excitement when it declared the long-anticipated sequel to be “available now.” However, upon closer inspection, it seems like it was just a clever tease, as Metroid Prime 4’s release is yet to come.
It’s common knowledge that the production of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond has faced numerous challenges. Originally announced at E3 2017 with Bandai Namco as developers, the project was later abandoned and taken up by Retro Studios, who have created previous 3D games in the series.
After numerous speculations and periodic announcements, there were confirmations that its release would occur in 2025, and it was also revealed that a second generation of the Switch was on its way as well.
Fans are speculating that a major announcement could be imminent, as a billboard sighting suggests the release isn’t too far off, despite no official date being set yet.
Metroid Prime 4 fans think big news is coming soon
As a devoted admirer, I stumbled upon a fascinating sign at the bustling Oxford Circus Station in the heart of London. It was first showcased on Reddit from various perspectives, and to add credibility, even VGC’s Andy Robinson shared an image, confirming its authenticity.
A prominent display advertisement features the Switch 2 Version of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and the phrase “Available Now” is prominently displayed on one side. Yet, as of now, the game has yet to appear on the Nintendo store.

It seems that many fans believe this oversight, intended to be concealed by another sticker, might instead hint at significant news imminent on the horizon. Some are even anticipating an unexpected release, or what’s commonly referred to as a “shadowdrop.
“So that would mean we’re really close to release?” said one player.
Another person suggested that the advertisement might have been posted last night, casting a shadow today. That would seem rather strange,” they commented.
It’s important to remember that Donkey Kong Bananza, another major Nintendo game, will be launched on July 17. Releasing two popular in-house games so closely might seem daring. However, even if the speculation about a simultaneous release of Metroid Prime 4 is incorrect, it’s encouraging to see that the game seems to be progressing well enough to meet its projected 2025 release window.
