Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Features A New Samus Aran Voice Actor

Samus Aran isn’t a talkative character, but voice acting adds depth to her personality through sounds like grunts and mumbles. Jennifer Hale, famous for voicing Commander Shepard in the Mass Effect games, previously voiced Samus in the first three Metroid Prime games. However, for the upcoming Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Erin Yvette will provide the voice, and Krystle Martin will handle the motion capture, according to Nintendo Life.

Yvette has collaborated with Nintendo before, notably voicing characters in Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Recently, IGN questioned her about returning to her role in Metroid Prime, but she suggested she wasn’t involved in the new version, stating she doesn’t remember recording any lines or signing a contract for it. This isn’t the first time this has happened to Hale, as she experienced a similar situation with Bayonetta 3.

Nintendo has recently replaced voice actors for some of its most famous characters. Samantha Kelly, who voiced Princess Peach and Toad for many years, announced she was no longer with the franchise after not being included in the latest Mario Kart game. Last year, Super Mario Bros. Wonder debuted a new voice for Mario and Luigi, performed by Kevin Afghani, after Charles Martinet—who had voiced the brothers for 25 years—retired from the role.

Over the years, several voice actors have played Samus Aran in the Metroid games. Nikki Garcia recently voiced the character in Metroid Dread, and before her, Jessica Erin Martin voiced Samus in Metroid: Other M.
