In simpler terms, Simon Gerovich, CEO of Metaplanet – a Japanese investment company, shared that they have set high targets and plan to concentrate their efforts on Bitcoin by the year 2025.

Through a recent tweet, the executive shared their intentions to boost Metaplanet’s Bitcoin reserves up to 10,000 Bitcoins.

Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Expansion

To reach the goal of 10,000 Bitcoins, Gerovich mentioned that the company intends to employ capital market strategies that add value (accretive). Additionally, they plan to boost transparency and investor interaction by introducing new projects.

The company intends to use alliances to boost the global usage of Bitcoin, not just in Japan, while also seeking ways to increase its influence within the Japanese market and the wider Bitcoin community.

2021 was a period of significant change for us, marked by achieving unprecedented milestones, growing our Bitcoin reserves, and solidifying our status as the foremost Bitcoin Treasury firm in Asia. In 2022, our primary goal is to deliver results and generate even more worth for our investors.

Previously, Gerovich pointed out that if the U.S. decides to hold Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, it might spark a chain reaction worldwide and eventually lead other countries to do the same, given their tendency to look up to the U.S. for direction. He specifically mentioned Japan as a case in point.

At Michael Saylor’s Bitcoin New Year’s Eve gathering in Florida, the Metaplanet executive expressed belief that if the US, under President Trump, were to take this action, Japan and other Asian nations might follow suit with similar steps. These discussions revolved around the increasing impact of Bitcoin on global financial strategies.

2025: “Arrival of Corporates”

Two weeks ago, Gerovich’s disclosures for 2025 followed Metaplanet’s significant Bitcoin purchase of 619.7 BTC, its largest acquisition to date within its Bitcoin Treasury Operations. This hoard was valued at approximately $60.6 million. Further purchases have since increased the Tokyo-based firm’s holdings to a total of 1,761 BTC.

2025 might see a significant development as corporations are forecasted to make their entrance, given the rising number of companies embracing Bitcoin as a reserve currency. At present, MicroStrategy holds the largest amount with 446,400 BTC, followed closely by Marathon Digital (44,394 BTC) and Riot (17,429 BTC). Metaplanet is positioned 15th on this list, trailing behind Semler Scientific and Exodus.
