The developers at Atlus have managed to weave together the essence of their iconic Persona series while introducing fresh and innovative elements that promise an exhilarating experience.
Right now, you can try a complimentary preview for the latest turn-based JRPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio, from the same team behind Persona. This free trial is accessible on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. Any advancements you make during this demo will be preserved when the complete game launches in October.
During the demonstration, gamers can preview the initial part of the upcoming role-playing game set in fantasy. If they wish, they can replay it multiple times. At first, you’ll see the main character, who is fully voiced along with their fairy companion Gallica, journeying towards the Royal Capital. However, their caravan gets attacked en route. Following this attack, the two must walk through the barren lands outside the city on foot, aiming to join the royal military to convey an urgent message. This side quest provides players a chance to learn about how Metaphor’s combat and exploration mechanics function.

In tougher encounters against formidable foes, the game employs turn-based combat where players seek to capitalize on enemy vulnerabilities. For weaker adversaries, Metaphor offers real-time combat that can be swiftly resolved by the player. Instead of utilizing Personas, characters in this game draw upon various Archetype classes, boasting over 40 options to choose from.
During our recent Metaphor: ReFantazio hands-on preview, we offered the highest compliment by expressing that we found ourselves unable to stop playing Atlus’ new title, and were captivated by the game’s unique narrative decisions and the way it integrated Persona’s social simulation features.
