The production of this show was initially mentioned in March, yet it hadn’t been secured by Paramount+ then. Subsequently, McCarthy and Owen have been cast to portray JonBenét’s parents, Patsy and John Bennett Ramsey

“Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and CEO of Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, noted that Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen make an exceptional pair to explore this heart-wrenching tale which has lingered as a chilling legacy in American society for close to three decades,”

Titled as “The JonBenét Ramsey Case,” this true crime series delves into the tragic murder of six-year-old JonBenét, who was discovered dead in the basement of her family’s residence, mere hours after she went missing. The official synopsis for the show goes like this:

“The story unfolds around the Ramsey family, both before and after the heartbreaking event that shook them. They endure the agonizing loss of a child amidst an overwhelming wave of media attention that turned this case into a national obsession. At its core, the series delves into the relationship between Patsy and John Ramsey, two intricate individuals who were bound by an unshakable bond as spouses and parents. They had dedicated their lives to portraying a picture-perfect, privileged lifestyle, but that image was shattered on Christmas night in 1996.”

I’m thrilled to be a fan of this exciting series, where Richard LaGravense, Harrison Query, and Tommy Wallach take on the roles of writers and executive producers. Notably, LaGravense is also the showrunner for our beloved show. This dynamic trio sold the project to MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with four out of eight episodes being directed by Anne Sewitsky, another esteemed executive producer

“Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President of Programming for Paramount+, commented that JonBenét Ramsey’s unsolved murder remains one of the nation’s most captivating mysteries. He expressed excitement about the exceptional acting skills of Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen, along with the creative minds led by Richard LaGravenese, who will provide a detailed and sensitive portrayal of her story.”

01 Studios’ CEO, Glasser, expressed his satisfaction with the exceptional crew, both on-camera and off-, who have been tirelessly working to deliver our thought-provoking and daring project to the public for quite some time now. He couldn’t be more thrilled!
