As a movie buff with a penchant for comedic classics and a soft spot for timeless tales of family and self-discovery, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming animated feature “The Land of Sometimes.” The fact that comedy legend Mel Brooks and the talented Asa Butterfield are joining the voice cast is just the cherry on top!
Famed comedian Mel Brooks and “Sex Education” actor Asa Butterfield are set to lend their voices in the upcoming animated movie, titled “The Land of Sometimes.”
As a captivated cinephile, I’ve had the pleasure of immersing myself in the enchanting world of “The Land of Sometimes.” This visually stunning film is ingeniously adapted from Francesca Longrigg’s original audiobook, with Tony Nottage masterfully crafting the screenplay. The narrative follows the exhilarating journey of twins Alfie and Elise as they find themselves magically transported to a mystical island inhabited by fantastical creatures. This whimsical tale delves deep into themes of family bonds and self-exploration, making for an unforgettable cinematic experience.
Brooks and Butterfield have been added to the already announced cast, which consists of Ewan McGregor (“Obi-Wan Kenobi”), Helena Bonham Carter (“The Crown”), Alisha Weir (“Matilda: The Musical”), and Jessica Henwick (“Glass Onion”). Notably, this film marks one of the final performances from Terry Jones, a member of the legendary “Monty Python” troupe.
The movie, titled “Saving Santa,” is being led by Leon Joosen in its production. This production comes from both Two Daughters Entertainment and Nottage Productions. Bonnie Arnold, known for her work on “How to Train Your Dragon,” and Alan Yentob, renowned for his work on “Billy Elliot,” are serving as executive producers. They will be joined by James Reatchlous, the executive chairman of Two Daughters, and Simon Bobin, the CEO of the same company, in this role. Additionally, Nottage Productions is also taking up the producer’s role for this film.
Kaleidoscope Film Distribution is managing overseas distribution rights and plans to show excerpts from the movie at the Toronto International Film Festival in a month’s time.
In a unique and humorous style that’s become synonymous with him, the 98-year-old EGOT winner, Mel Brooks, is contributing to the project. Renowned for his work in timeless films such as “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles,” and “Young Frankenstein,” Brooks’ presence gives an air of classic Hollywood prestige to the animated production. Recently, this comedy legend has provided voiceovers for several animated projects, including roles in “Toy Story 4” and “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank,” which is a reimagined version of his own “Blazing Saddles.”
Two Daughters Entertainment, recognized for producing the animated series “Moley,” is broadening its collection of family-friendly content. This company is currently managed in the U.S. by Zero Gravity Management.
