As a seasoned gamer with decades of Mario Kart under my belt, I must admit that this latest collaboration between McDonald’s and Nintendo has me pretty excited! Growing up, I remember the thrill of receiving a Happy Meal toy from my favorite franchise or series, and seeing Mario Kart characters in that iconic box is a nostalgic dream come true.

McDonald’s recently introduced a fresh collection of Happy Meal playthings, this time showcasing the beloved figures from the game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Since the debut of the Happy Meal by McDonald’s in 1979, they have consistently included a toy based on the trendy brand of that particular era.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve been blown away by the buzz surrounding recent partnerships featuring Hello Kitty, YuGiOh, Crocs, and grown-up Happy Meals on social media. The latest drop doesn’t disappoint either!

On October 31 (Halloween), the newest addition to the Happy Meal toys was unveiled, showcasing popular figures from the game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Guillaume Huin, McDonald’s social media manager, unveiled a collaboration on his personal account, showcasing 10 collectible Mario Kart characters now up for grabs.

The release features Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach, Toad, Bowser, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong.

He mentioned that each toy from the Mario Kart Happy Meal will be enclosed in an adorable, unique box. Additionally, there are two special toys – Gold Mario and Pink Peach – which have never been offered before!

Enthusiastic followers and patrons swarmed the comments section of his post, eager to express their opinions. Although it might not be the most fitting release for this season given that Mario Kart isn’t particularly scary, fans of the franchise remain thrilled regardless, looking forward to obtaining these toys.

“Definitely need to get one for my ‘kid’,” one user commented.

Another said: “I’m undefeated as peach kart.. let’s gooo.”

The shift in packaging for Mario Kart toys distributed by McDonald’s in the U.S., moving them from boxes to plastic bags, represents a significant alteration. Interestingly, this change was previously observed with the Belgium launch of the Hello Kitty x YuGiOh collaboration, where the toys were also transitioned from boxes into plastic bags. This adjustment left fans disappointed during the U.S. release.

In a shift from their traditional Halloween celebrations, McDonald’s has opted for a new toy line based on Mario Kart instead of the classic Boo Baskets starting from 2021. However, the unveiling in September didn’t exactly excite fans due to the noticeable design alterations expected for the 2024 release.
