McDonald’s drive-thru worker reveals one habit that will get you instantly ‘ignored’

As someone who has spent countless hours at fast food drive-thrus over the years, both as a customer and, more recently, as a curious observer, I can attest to the intricacies of this unique dance between the servers and patrons. The viral TikTok video by “maccaworkaddict” struck a chord with me, reminding me of countless times when I’ve been on both sides of the intercom.

A McDonald’s employee has attracted attention online by sharing an irritating behavior exhibited by drive-thru customers that they find frustrating.

A fast food employee, known on TikTok as “maccaworkaddict,” playfully danced beside a post that said, “You can’t continue to overlook the vehicle in the drive-thru since they greeted you enthusiastically as soon as they arrived.

The constant buzzing alerts McDonald’s drive-thru workers get whenever a new customer arrives might be frustrating because it eliminates the need for a greeting, such as ‘hello’, when customers pull up to the kiosk.

Many colleagues who work at drive-thrus concurred with the original post, with a Burger King worker stating that clients often become vocal the moment they see her wearing the headset.

Another claimed that “Each time they say hello I make them wait another 10 seconds lol.”

Maccaworkaddict made it clear in the comment section that the video should be viewed with a sense of humor, as it was intended as a jest.

She also clarified that it was okay for customers to utter a “hello” at the drive-thru if they’d pulled up and nobody had communicated with them and was ready to take their order.

Since the video went viral, Maccaworkaddict has since deleted her TikTok account.

2024 saw a lot of discussion surrounding McDonald’s drive-thrus. In fact, they shut down more than 100 AI-controlled drive-thrus, which had initially been introduced in 2021.

As an enthusiastic fan, I’m excited to share that by the end of this year, I expect to see decisions made regarding automated orders at McDonald’s. However, it’s important to note that incorporating a voice-ordering system into drive-thrus will certainly be part of our restaurant’s future!
