Warning! This article contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Mayor of Kingstown season 4, episode 10.
The fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown has concluded with a powerful and emotional finale. While the season brought constant conflict between two major gangs and put Kyle McLusky’s life in danger while he was in prison, the McLusky brothers still face significant challenges ahead.
Kyle finally killed Merle Callahan, the man who had controlled him and was responsible for his wife’s death, after Callahan escaped from prison. Meanwhile, Bunny orchestrated a successful operation against the Colombians, both within the prison walls and in Kingstown, and Mike is starting to build a working relationship with the new warden, Nina Hobbs.
With the dangerous Sicario getting away from questioning, and Kevin, Bunny’s informant, critically wounded during the prison riot and left in Cindy Stephens’ care, Mike McLusky and the town of Kingstown still have a lot of problems to solve before they can find peace.
How The Mayor Of Kingstown Season 4 Finale Proved Callahan Was A Coward

I’ve been following the story, and it turns out Callahan and the McLusky brothers go way back – all the way to Mike’s time inside. When Mike first got locked up, he needed to find some allies to protect himself, and he ended up connecting with the Aryan Brotherhood, with Callahan as a leader. It’s pretty clear Mike didn’t share their ideology, but they provided him with the protection he needed to survive prison life.
Years later, Callahan found himself near Mike’s younger brother, Kyle, while both were stationed in Ad Sec, and tried to convince him to join. Through it all, Callahan consistently presented a facade of courage and strength, appearing brave and unafraid.
Callahan led a large group of devoted followers and used brutal acts to intimidate anyone who opposed him. Even as he was dying, he tried to upset Kyle by cruelly mentioning Kyle’s late wife. But when Kyle shot Merle in the leg, Callahan’s tough exterior vanished. He was left a frightened, old man facing his own death.
Why The War For Control Of Kingstown Is Just Beginning
Jeremy Parsons / Paramount+
Throughout season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown, Bunny was trying to increase his power in Kingstown by working with Frank Moses. However, Frank double-crossed Bunny, so Mike devised a plan to have Frank imprisoned. This would allow Bunny to get his revenge and kill Frank once he was transferred to Anchor Bay.
The Crips have run into serious trouble with the Colombian Cartel, who have disrupted their deliveries and attacked their hideouts, making it hard for the Crips to gain control. Although Bunny and his crew managed to dismantle a large operation and capture the relentless Sicario in the season finale, the conflict is far from resolved.
Bunny steps away from questioning a young hitman to talk to Mike, but when he returns, he finds his guards dead and the assassin gone. This isn’t just any killer, and with dangerous connections, a major threat is coming to Kingstown that could destroy Bunny’s power.
Why Warden Nina Hobbs Is In Danger In Mayor Of Kingstown Season 5
Nina Hobbs joined the show Mayor of Kingstown at the beginning of season 4, and it was later revealed she was connected to a Colombian drug cartel. Now, because the cartel is threatening her daughter, Nina is cooperating with Mike, even following his directions on how to manage the prison.
Mike and Bunny’s operation was meant to stop the Cartel from taking over Kingstown, but the escape of the Sicario creates a serious new danger, particularly for Nina Hobbs. Because she switched sides and helped Mike, the Cartel will likely seek revenge and she’s now in grave danger.
Why Cindy Stephens’ Future In Mayor Of Kingstown May Not Be At Anchor Bay
Jeremy Parsons / Paramount+
Cindy Stephens started working at Anchor Bay at the same time as the new warden, but her experiences in Kingstown have led her down a much darker path. As a corrections officer, she’s seen disturbing things, and recently, in just the last two episodes, she’s been forced to take a life – first a colleague, and now she’s witnessing someone else die.
Cindy has a lot on her plate as a single mom with several children, and she probably relies on her income to support them. However, given the dangers of working at Anchor Bay, she’s likely considering a change. She might try to transfer to a different facility, perhaps the women’s prison nearby, or even move further away. It doesn’t seem like she’ll continue working at Anchor Bay for much longer.
What Comes Next For Mike McLusky In Kingstown
Dennis P. Mong Jr. / Paramount +
As mayor, Mike strives to remain neutral, offering support to both the police and local gangs to keep the peace and prevent violence. However, he’s also heavily favored Bunny, a long-time friend, which creates a complicated situation.
Mike is feeling trapped in Kingstown and is frustrated by how much the city seems to demand from him. But he’s not the type to avoid a challenge or abandon something before it’s finished. Because of this, it’s logical for him to stay and resolve the issues with the Cartel before considering a move.
Will There Be A Mayor Of Kingstown Season 5?
Jeremy Parsons / Paramount+
Season 5 of Mayor of Kingstown hasn’t been officially announced yet. Even though season 4 has finished, there’s been no news about whether the show will continue. However, considering Taylor Sheridan’s history with other successful shows and his current deal with Paramount, renewal seems very probable.
With the show now concluded, the existing four seasons of Mayor of Kingstown will have to do. Looking back, it’s obvious that the town consistently draws trouble and unwanted scrutiny.
