‘Maya the Bee’ Spinoff ‘Arnie & Barney,’ Voiced by the Umbilical Brothers, to Be Launched at AFM by Studio 100 Film (EXCLUSIVE)

As a longtime enthusiast of animated films and a devoted fan of the “Maya the Bee” franchise, I can confidently say that the upcoming spin-off, “Arnie & Barney,” has piqued my interest significantly. Having grown up watching the antics of Arnie and Barney as side characters in Maya’s world, it’s heartening to see them stepping into the limelight.

International studio Studio 100 will create a new animated adventure series called “Arnie & Barney,” which is a spin-off from the popular “Maya the Bee” franchise, set to be released in early 2026. Global sales for this project are being managed by Studio 100 Film and they will showcase it at the American Film Market (AFM) in Las Vegas. Here’s a sneak peek of the teaser from EbMaster.

In the spotlight are ants Arnie and Barney, well-known characters from “Maya the Bee.” The upcoming movie promises a mix of action, comedy, camaraderie, and bravery, as stated by Studio 100 Intl.

The story revolves around a group of ants named Arnie and Barney during a devastating drought. Faced with their community’s crisis, these ants embark on a mission to find water. However, the duo, who are more known for their clumsiness than heroics, decide to take matters into their own tiny paws. Their blundering attempts lead them to expose a criminal water operation and form an alliance with a mysterious superhero mosquito. Through a series of humorous misadventures, they end up saving the meadow unintentionally, earning them the title of the most unexpected heroes in the process.

Arnie and Barney are characters voiced by the Australian comedians Shane Dundas and David Collins, more famously known as the Umbilical Brothers. These talented duo have been recognized by Entertainment Weekly as two of their “100 Most Creative People in Entertainment.

Dundas and Collins additionally worked on the screenplay penned by Fin Edquist, including the films “200% Wolf,” “100% Wolf,” and the trilogy of “Maya the Bee.

Thorsten Wegener, a producer and director at Studio 100 Intl., expressed that this production is particularly dear to them, as it centers around unlikely heroes. He believes that its blend of adventure and humor will captivate audiences everywhere. It’s exciting to witness Arnie and Barney, previously adored supporting characters, take center stage.

Studio 100 International collaborates with Studio Isar Animation, while 3 Doubles Producciones serves as our production partner.
