Maxccureached error protects REPO from piracy. It’s a surprising ally

Typically, when we think about games played by thousands or more, they’re usually big-budget AAA titles. But occasionally, indie games climb to the top of Steam charts and gain a large following. A recent example is REPO, which has been inspired by Lethal Company. Get ready to collect valuable items (use drones to make your tasks smoother) and escape from enemies. However, some players have recently encountered a problem that’s hampering their enjoyment of the game. Players are reporting an issue called Maxccureached on the official Discord channel and Steam forums… The root cause of this problem is quite intriguing.

Maxccureached as a sign of being a pirate in REPO?

Maxccureached is an error which shows itself when the server limit is reached. However, in the case of REPO, where there is no main server and games are hosted by players, it should not occur. It seems that the answer to this issue is quite simple – piracy.

First reports of Maxccureached error are quite recent, and they were definitely not there around the release date. All of them begin to show up after anti-hacker measures taken by developers. Of course, there is no proven direct connection between those two but it shows at least that the issue with dishonest practice is something which creators notice. On the other hand, one of the Reddit threads states that the issue is due to the small capacity of pirate servers.

As a devoted follower, I want to share that one of Semiwork’s representatives chimed in on the forum thread concerning the issue we’ve been facing. Specifically, they left a comment on our official Discord channel.

As a savvy gamer, I’d say the smart move is to ditch that pirated game and grab it legit from Steam instead. That way, I won’t run into the ‘maxccureached’ issue anymore. Saving up a bit might take some time, but trust me, having a clean, legitimate copy of your game will be worth the wait!

It is probably as close to the official acknowledgement that this issue is caused by piracy, as we can get. Regardless of the source, Maxccureached is definitely a good thing for players, as it seems to punish only (or at least mostly) those who downloaded the game illegally. So, if you experience the error, buy REPO, especially as it does not cost so much. Let’s support developers to let them create more and more fun games for us to play.
