Max to Develop Series Based on Vanity Fair Article ‘NYPD Confidential’ (EXCLUSIVE)

In a fiercely contested environment, it’s been Max who clinched the opportunity to create a dramatic television series from the Vanity Fair article titled “NYPD Confidential: Inside America’s Most Unconventional Counterterror Squad.

Originally penned by Adam Ciralsky in February 2025, this article has P3 Media’s co-founders, Adam Ciralsky and Gene Klein, set to serve as executive producers. Dylan Clark Productions, helmed by Dylan Clark and John-Eric Capps, are also on board as executive producers. As we speak, we’re actively seeking a writer and showrunner for this exciting project.

The “NYPD Confidential” article recounted the tale of Rebecca Weiner, New York City’s deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism at the NYPD, and her team’s relentless efforts to prevent terrorist attacks and targeted violence within the city. Their actions have successfully disrupted purported ISIS-inspired threats and foiled attempts by Iran to assassinate former U.S. officials.

The specific style of the “NYPD Confidential” series may vary depending on who takes charge, but its content appears suitable for a format that follows step-by-step investigations (a procedural). This is worth mentioning because many streaming platforms are currently focusing on creating sophisticated procedurals instead of the expensive shows that characterized the Peak TV era.

More recently, Max’s medical procedural “The Pitt,” featuring Noah Wyle, has been quite successful. Initially, it secured a 15-episode run when it was greenlit in March 2024, premiering its first season in January 2025. The show has garnered critical acclaim and was renewed for a second season in February 2025.

The most recent piece by Ciralsky has been chosen for television adaptation, following his previous article “Take No Prisoners” which was developed at Lionsgate TV with Alexi Hawley adapting it for the screen. This adaptation eventually made its way to Hulu. A documentary adaptation of “Take No Prisoners” was also recently premiered at SXSW. In addition, Ciralsky has worked as a consulting producer on the Paramount drama series “The Agency” and served as executive producer on the Netflix series “The Recruit.
