Matthew Rhys Joins Claire Danes in Netflix Limited Series ‘Beast in Me’

As a dedicated fan with years of following Matthew Rhys‘ career, I couldn’t be more thrilled about his upcoming role opposite Claire Danes in “The Beast in Me.” Having witnessed his exceptional performances in shows like “The Americans” and “Perry Mason,” I have no doubt that he will bring the same intensity and depth to this captivating story. The fact that he’s reuniting with Claire Danes, whom he previously worked with on “Homeland,” makes it even more intriguing.

According to reports from EbMaster, Matthew Rhys will be appearing alongside Claire Danes in the forthcoming Netflix miniseries titled “The Beast Within Us.”

The series was initially commissioned by the streaming service as early as March, with Danes playing the main character.

The tagline for the series goes like this: “Following the heartbreaking loss of her son, celebrated writer Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has retreated from the public eye, struggling to write and barely resembling her former vibrant self. However, a fresh subject for her next book emerges when the house adjacent to hers is purchased by Nile Sheldon (Rhys), a renowned real estate tycoon who was once a prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. Aggie finds herself drawn to this man, both repulsed and captivated, and begins an uncontrollable quest for the truth – all while wrestling with her own demons – in a dangerous game of cat and mouse that could prove fatal.”

On television, Rhys is most famously recognized for his lead part in the highly praised FX show “The Americans.” For three consecutive years, he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series for “The Americans,” eventually taking home the prize in 2018. This role also earned him two Golden Globe nominations. More recently, he has played the lead in the HBO series “Perry Mason.” His filmography includes “Burnt,” “The Post,” “Cocaine Bear,” and “The Report.”

He is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content, and United Agents.

In “The Beast in Me,” Gabe Rotter has been recognized as the mastermind behind the creation, writing, and executive production. Howard Gordon assumes the role of showrunner and executive producer. Danes joins as an executive producer while also taking on the lead role. Daniel Pearle is responsible for both writing and executive producing. Antonio Campos is attached to direct and executive produce. The team at Conaco, consisting of Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger, will also serve as executive producers. Jodie Foster is an executive producer too. The studio behind this project is 20th Television.

Deadline first reported Rhys’ casting.
