Matthew Perry’s Assistant Among Those Charged in Deadly Overdose

As a fervent admirer of Matthew Perry and his illustrious career on Friends, I am deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding his tragic demise. It is heart-wrenching to learn that his own assistant and several others close to him allegedly contributed to his downfall due to their involvement in supplying him with harmful substances like ketamine.

Several individuals are facing charges in connection with the death of Matthew Perry, most notably his own assistant. Besides the actor from “Friends,” two doctors, a drug dealer, and an associate of Perry have been implicated following an overdose of ketamine that led to Perry’s drowning last October. Authorities claim all five suspects provided ketamine to Perry, who had a history of addiction. Dr. Salvador Plasencia is accused of texting another doctor, Mark Chavez, about purchasing ketamine for sale to Perry on September 30, 2023. Over the following days, authorities alleged that Dr. Plasencia sold thousands of dollars worth of ketamine to Perry, administered doses higher than recommended limits, and falsified records regarding his treatment. A dose given by Dr. Plasencia is said to have caused Perry to become immobile during a home visit. On October 24th, Perry’s acquaintance Erik Fleming bought 25 vials of ketamine from Jasveen Sangha, a dealer known as “the Ketamine Queen.” Fleming reportedly provided the drug to Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who authorities claim administered at least 20 injections over the next four days before Perry drowned on October 28.

Initial reports suggest that at least one physician and several others have been detained. Dr. Plasencia and Sangha are facing the most serious allegations, including a conspiracy to distribute ketamine and charges related to distributing ketamine which led to a death. Additionally, Sangha is dealing with a methamphetamine charge from earlier this year, following a March search of her North Hollywood residence that uncovered nearly 2,000 meth pills as well as 79 bottles of ketamine. She has pleaded not guilty to these charges. Chavez, Fleming, and Iwamasa have each been separately charged with conspiring to distribute ketamine.
