Matteo Lane Sets Comedy Special at Hulu

As a seasoned movie buff with a penchant for stand-up comedy, I must say that Matteo Lane is a captivating artist whose unique journey and versatile talents have piqued my interest. From his humble beginnings as an oil painter and classically trained opera singer in Italy to gracing the stages of Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center with his stand-up comedy, Matteo’s story is nothing short of extraordinary.


Matteo Lane has announced a new stand-up special to stream on Hulu.

On October 24th, the comedian is due to record an hour’s performance at The Eli and Edythe Broad Stage located in Santa Monica. As of now, a specific release date has not been disclosed.

Lane expressed great excitement about joining the Disney Hulu team, stating that it’s as close as he’ll come to being the fifth Golden Girl.

Lane’s upcoming comedy will be part of Hulu’s fresh comedy label, Hularious, starting in November. This new comedy series will also include specials from comedians like Jim Gaffigan, Bill Burr, Ilana Glazer, Roy Wood Jr., Atsuko Okatsuka, Jessica Kirson, and Chris Distefano.

Under this project, Hulu will additionally debut a carefully selected assortment of stand-up comedy specials that they have obtained the rights to from various providers such as 800 Pound Gorilla, Comedy Dynamics, Don’t Tell Comedy, and more.

Lane, a Chicago-born comedian who was once recognized as an EbMaster 10 Comics to Watch honoree, is currently touring with his “Can’t Stop Talking Tour.” This tour started over the summer and will continue until next year. Notably, he previously performed at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center as part of his “Al Dente Tour.

Apart from his popular stand-up comedy performances, he has also been credited in various projects such as the Amazon original romantic comedy “Upgraded,” Michelle Buteau’s Netflix series “Survival of the Thickest,” and the feature film “Molli & Max in the Future.” He can also be seen in Netflix’s stand-up special dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community, titled “Outstanding: A Comedy Revolution.

Prior to embarking on a career in Hollywood, Matteo had resided in Italy where he was an artist specializing in oil painting and had undergone classical training as an opera singer.
