If you’re scrolling on your phone during a movie, you’re confirming Netflix’s suspicions. Actor Matt Damon revealed that Netflix expects viewers to get distracted, so they’ve asked filmmakers to adjust their approach. Traditionally, action movies build to one major climax at the end. Now, Netflix wants a big action sequence right at the beginning to grab viewers’ attention and keep them hooked. They’ve also suggested filmmakers subtly repeat the plot several times throughout the movie, knowing many people are simultaneously using their phones. Damon pointed out that it’s easier for someone to stop watching a movie at home than to leave a movie theater, so keeping audiences engaged is more crucial than ever.

He basically thinks it proves you don’t need all that stuff to get people hooked – good storytelling is enough!
