The news arrives before the third episode of the show airs on its broadcast network. Kathy Bates plays the lead role in this series, which is a fresh take on the original series that originally starred Andy Griffith, titled similarly. Alongside her, Skye P. Marshall, Jason Ritter, David Del Rio, and Leah Lewis are also part of the cast.

Ever since its premiere on September 22nd, I’ve found myself utterly captivated by “Matlock”. Critics and audiences alike seem to share this sentiment, as it currently boasts a perfect 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The first episode managed to garner a 0.44 rating and an impressive 7.7 million viewers in the initial Nielsen Live+Same Day ratings. This number rose significantly to a 0.62 rating and a staggering 10.4 million viewers when factoring in the Live+7 ratings. Simply put, “Matlock” is a series that’s definitely worth tuning into!
Bates stars in the show, playing Madeline “Matty” Matlock – a sharp-witted, seventy-year-old character who enjoyed professional success early on and decides to reenter the workforce at an esteemed law firm. There, she employs her modest exterior and cunning strategies to win cases while also delving into a private mystery of her own.
Jennie Snyder Urman originally created the show “Matlock” and currently holds the role of executive producer. Additionally, Joanna Klein, Eric Christian Olsen, Kat Coiro, and Bates are also serving as executive producers. CBS Studios handles production, while distribution is managed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
