Master Chief was reportedly joining CoD in epic Halo collab before it got scrapped

As a lifelong gamer who has witnessed the evolution of gaming from 8-bit to high-definition, I must admit, the prospect of Master Chief gracing the battlefields of Call of Duty was nothing short of exhilarating. The idea of such a crossover felt like the ultimate dream for many fans, myself included.

In an exciting turn of events, it seemed that two heavyweights in the FPS genre were about to clash, as it was rumored that Master Chief would team up with Call of Duty, marking a monumental Halo collaboration. However, unfortunately, this anticipated crossover did not materialize in the end.

In the current trend of ongoing game services, collaborations have become quite frequent. For instance, Fortnite frequently introduces popular figures from various fields including fictional icons and real-world celebrities. Similarly, other games like Call of Duty have also started to incorporate such crossovers.

Over time, we’ve witnessed a diverse range of talents, from NBA superstars to action-packed Hollywood actors. Consequently, when Microsoft finalized its unprecedented $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there was much curiosity about the possibilities that might unfold.

Leading the lineup was Halo. Is there a chance we might see Halo collaborating with Call of Duty? Insiders suggest that such a crossover was indeed considered, and preparations were made to bring it to life as early as 2024.

It’s interesting to note that, surprisingly, a collaboration between Halo’s Master Chief and Call of Duty’s Master Chief, which was initially planned for Modern Warfare III, never materialized due to reasons that remain unexplained.

As an excited fan, I’ve heard whispers that Microsoft and Activision might have been collaborating to incorporate elements of Halo into Call of Duty, although nothing has been officially confirmed yet. A rumor circulating from a trusted source, TheGhostOfHope, hints at the potential arrival of a Master Chief bundle.

The rumor indicates that the legendary Spartan character would be introduced into Call of Duty (CoD) with his exclusive Operator Skin, along with various other cosmetic items. This bundle was supposed to include weapon blueprints, such as a melee Energy Sword, charms, emotes, and more, all scheduled for release during the Modern Warfare 3 seasonal update.

At present, it’s unclear what led to the termination of the project. Earlier in the year, our sister site CharlieIntel also picked up on whispers of a potential partnership, but the reasons behind its cancelation remain undisclosed.

It’s plausible that Halo and Call of Duty could collaborate in the future, given their publishers seem open to the idea. The potential for these iconic franchises to merge is quite strong, with new Halo projects already underway. We can only speculate as we wait to witness how this unfolds.
