Massive Twitter logo from San Francisco HQ sells for hefty price

A colossal 550-pound Twitter bird emblem was bought at an auction for an astoundingly high price, leaving many bewildered by the transaction.

Shortly following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in October 2022, he embarked on a process of revamping the social media service, with plans to rename it as X.

In 2023, as part of a company overhaul, all classic Twitter bird emblems were taken down from their San Francisco headquarters for auctioning.

Information regarding the location of the iconic items following their initial auction was scarce, however, on Friday, March 21st, the mystery surrounding one of Twitter’s largest signs was solved.

550lb Twitter bird logo sells for $35,000

As reported by Kron 4, a San Francisco-based news outlet, the iconic 550-pound Twitter bird logo statue that graced their former headquarters is now owned by someone else, having been purchased for approximately $35,000.

In 2023, the historical Twitter sign was procured by RR Auctions during their first auction. Since then, it has been stored in their warehouse. A representative from the company stated that this sign is not just an office ornament but a substantial artifact of social media history.

They pointed out that the Twitter logo isn’t just a large keepsake; it represents the rapid pace at which our world is evolving. To possess an item such as this is to hold a part of the time period that significantly transformed our worldwide communication system.

RR Auctions recently posted a video on YouTube, highlighting their famous bird emblem that graced the building since 2012, before being taken down in 2023.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that other tech artifacts were also up for grabs at the RR Auction. According to Kron, two checks autographed by Steve Jobs fetched impressive prices – one for $112,000 and another for $62,000. Moreover, an original Apple-1 computer was sold for a whopping $375,000, while a sealed first-generation iPhone went under the hammer for $87,000.
