Massive Cities: Skylines 2 update expands homelessness system to mimic real life. Colossal Order also adds difficulty levels and improves traffic

Today, Colossal Order Studio rolled out an update for Cities: Skylines 2 version 1.2.5f1, introducing some changes and enhancements. The new patch includes the addition of multiple difficulty levels, solves current traffic problems, and greatly refines the “homelessness system.” This move continues their efforts to boost the game’s overall reception, as it has garnered a mix of opinions from players since its debut.

Difficulty levels and better traffic simulation

In an update to the game, two fresh difficulty settings have been introduced – normal and easy. Previously, only one setting was available. Now you can customize your gaming experience according to your tastes. The ‘normal’ mode presents a more challenging financial and infrastructure management scenario, with fewer starting funds and no government aid. Conversely, the ‘easy’ mode simplifies city development by providing additional funding and reducing maintenance expenses. (Source: PCGamesn)

The developers also introduced several big changes regarding transportation:

  1. Vehicles blocking intersections now have priority to leave them, which should reduce traffic jams.
  2. Buses no longer make unexpected maneuvers after departing the bus stop.
  3. The waiting time for taxis has been shortened, which is expected to improve traffic flow.

Furthermore, the space within Garbage City Service facilities responsible for waste management has been increased, helping alleviate the problem of urban waste buildup.

Homelessness system

One significant enhancement is broadening the “homelessness support network.” The updated dashboard allows for tracking the number of individuals facing homelessness and assessing their living circumstances. This improvement empowers us to address the issue more effectively, tailoring housing policies and job market strategies to the community’s needs. Additionally, young adults no longer automatically leave their family homes – they stay until they find employment and accumulate sufficient funds (a touch of reality in the game… or something along those lines).

To celebrate the 10-year milestone of the series, ten additional parks, such as Chirper Park, Basketball Center, and Dog Activity Park, were incorporated into the game. Additionally, three Creator Packs have been introduced to enhance the gaming experience.

  1. Dragon Gate (Emperor Li) – a shopping area inspired by Chinese architecture (new service buildings and a temple);
  2. Leisure Venues (Gruny) – a set of recreational buildings, including a cinema, museum, and e-sports arena.
  3. Mediterranean Heritage (Zarrix) – Mediterranean residential buildings and new service buildings, for example, schools and police stations.

The latest update, version 1.2.5f1, is now live for all gamers playing Cities: Skylines 2.
