Marvel’s First Family Unveiled: Exclusive Look at The Fantastic Four in Action!

The promotional artwork showcases a fresh perspective on the Fantastic Four. This follows the disclosure by Director Matt Shakman of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

The artwork under consideration, posted by The Fantastic Four Updates X account, features Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing standing before the Baxter Building and a blue background. At the bottom is a Fantastic Four: First Steps jigsaw puzzle. Pedro Pascal, who plays Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, shared insight into his portrayal of Reed, stating that “With Reed, his body may stretch, but this is a brain character. I guess I’ll just give it completely away.” He then explained that he thought of the intelligence of an octopus and incorporated that into his subconscious as the biggest secret about his character reveal.

The artwork shows members of The Fantastic Four in front of their building and a blue backdrop, with a jigsaw puzzle at the bottom. Pedro Pascal, who plays Mister Fantastic, discussed his approach to portraying Reed Richards, stating that he thinks of Reed as having an intelligent mind like an octopus. This is one of the biggest secrets about his character.

Returning to Matt Shakman, he shared that the inspiration for his work is heavily influenced by the space race and the concept of venturing out there. In essence, “First Steps” is partially about that notion of exploration. He elaborated that the comic was produced in the early ’60s, during the same period as the space race began, which instilled a sense of gazing at the stars and fantasizing about a future where we would be space travelers. Consequently, he aimed to take all the great elements from Apollo 11 and envision a scenario where instead of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it was the Storms and Ben Grimm, along with Reed Richards, who embarked on a space journey.

Before this, the actor portraying Ben Grimm/The Thing, spoke highly of his co-stars in September 2024, saying, “I adore them. We’ve been putting in so much effort together. There’s such a strong bond that even a brief separation makes me feel a little anxious.

Interestingly, Bachrach admitted during an interview in June 2024 that he hadn’t seen the previous movies. He mentioned, “I haven’t watched those films. When I was hired to play this role, I didn’t think it would be beneficial to watch those movies beforehand. People often ask me about how this version differs from the others, but I don’t find it helpful to create something in contrast to something that already exists.

The Film Is All About the Characters

Apart from the latest updates, Marvel Studios President and Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige emphasized that the focus is primarily on the characters. Furthermore, there was talk suggesting that Julia Garner may not be part of the upcoming projects.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be released in theaters on July 25.
