In the upcoming phases of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), some fresh superheroes, each boasting unique abilities, will make their entrance in movies like “The Fantastic Four: The First Steps” and “Avengers: Doomsday”. One of the most exciting aspects of new Marvel films is the introduction of characters from Marvel Comics onto the big screen. As the MCU’s Multiverse Saga concludes, we can expect to see more of these beloved comic book characters brought to life.
In Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a fresh batch of characters is being introduced. This group includes the Fantastic Four members: Mister Fantastic, The Thing, Sue Storm, and the Human Torch. Additionally, some beloved X-Men heroes from the past are set to reappear on screen following the conclusion of the Fox’s X-Men films. Each character will bring unique abilities that are new to the franchise.
Beginning this summer, MCU Phase 6 starts with the movie titled “The Fantastic Four: The First Leaps“, paving the way for two more Avengers films, specifically “Avengers: Armageddon” and “Avengers: Battle of Secret Wars“.
The upcoming phase in Marvel Studios storytelling consists of four movies, six TV series (which include “X-Men ’97”, “Daredevil: Born Again”, and “Vision Quest”), and one Marvel Studios Special Presentation. This phase is set to conclude on May 7, 2027, with the release of “Secret Wars”, marking the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga.
Every Confirmed New Superpowered-Hero in MCU Phase 6
The Thing – Rock-Like Armored Skin
In the movie “The Fantastic Four: The First Steps,” The Thing, also known as Ben Grimm, will make his first appearance with rock-hard armor as a unique superpower. Although it may seem similar to Korg from “Thor: Ragnarok” who displayed this trait, it’s important to note that for The Thing, the armor is not just a part of his body but rather his own power, giving him a distinct identity.
In the upcoming movie, the character The Thing, portrayed by Ebon Moss Bachrach, was initially a hopeful astronaut. Unfortunately, due to a strange mishap involving his fellow Fantastic Four members, his skin transformed into a mesh of interconnected orange rocks.
This characteristic renders the character almost unbeatable, as his tough exterior repels the majority of incoming assaults. This trait proves beneficial to The Thing and his superhero comrades, since he often functions as their frontline, serving as a bulky, human-shaped ram in numerous instances.
Silver Surfer & Galactus – The Power Cosmic
In the Marvel universe, the Cosmic Power functions somewhat similarly to a secret shortcut or code, creating quite a buzz whenever it appears alongside Galactus and Silver Surfer in the introduction of the Fantastic Four.
In simpler terms, Cosmic Power is an amorphous energy that certain celestial entities possess. This power typically allows them to manipulate their own energy, thereby achieving almost any effect – as demonstrated by the character Galactus in comics. Essentially, whoever wields this power can perform feats ranging from teleportation to expanding themselves to the size of a planet.
In their first Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance, the Fantastic Four will face a formidable challenge as they grapple with an enigmatic cosmic energy. This energy, capable of great upheaval, pits them against not one, but two formidable foes – Silver Surfer and Galactus. With the ability to manipulate The Power Cosmic, these characters pose a significant threat. The final moments of the film may see the Fantastic Four propelled across different realities due to this cosmic force’s immense power.
Magneto – Magnetism Manipulation
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), one of the key powers yet to fully fit into the superpower puzzle has been Magneto’s ability to manipulate magnetism. This power grants him the unique control over magnetic fields, effectively making him master of the Earth and all its metal components.
As a die-hard film fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be witnessing Magneto make his grand entrance into the MCU for the first time in “Avengers: Doomsday”. Known for donning the iconic role in previous X-Men films, the esteemed Sir Ian McKellan will reprise his role. Joining him is an impressive lineup of veteran Marvel actors as they unite in the forthcoming Multiversal adventure.
It’s intriguing to consider how Magneto will employ his power to control metal when he makes his appearance in Marvel Studios. Throughout his history, this character has demonstrated a capacity to use his powers for both noble and malevolent purposes, working with heroes such as Wolverine, Professor X, and Cyclops at times, while also confronting them.
Cyclops – Optic Blasts
In addition, Cyclops will participate in the excitement of Phase 6 in “Avengers: Doomsday”. Known for his ability to emit powerful eye beams, James Marsden’s character has to wear a ruby-tinted visor to control these intense optical blasts.
In the movie “Eternals,” Richard Madden’s character, Ikaris, possesses powers that are somewhat akin to these; however, unlike Ikaris, his abilities do not involve concussive eye beams but rather heat-based ones, similar to those wielded by an X-Men character.
Undoubtedly, Cyclops Optic Blasts are likely to be utilized by the X-Men during their confrontation with the villainous Doctor Doom in “Doomsday“. These blasts will serve as offensive maneuvers, helping to move and position his allies strategically on the battlefield.
Nightcrawler – Teleportation
In an exciting development, Nightcrawler will introduce instantaneous transportation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time in “Avengers: Doomsday” next year. Played by Alan Cumming, Nightcrawler’s return promises action-packed scenes where he can move himself, his clothing, and any objects he is holding from one location to another instantaneously.
In earlier X-Men series from Fox, Nightcrawler’s talent for teleportation has been displayed numerous times. But in “Doomsday,” we’ll witness this power making its official entrance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
While this power is quite potent, it does come with certain constraints. Typically, the character can only transport himself over relatively short distances, usually not more than 3 kilometers from his initial spot. But, in some comic book stories, his mutant powers have been amplified, enabling him to traverse greater distances when the situation demands it.
