Marvel Stars Rally Against Trump: The Shocking Double Standard Exposed!

Over the weekend, a number of well-known Marvel actors took part in protests across the country dubbed “No Kings Day” – these were organized political actions aimed at publicly expressing disapproval towards President Donald Trump. Among those participating were Mark Ruffalo, who played the Hulk, Marisa Tomei from Spider-Man, Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Thunderbolts, and Glenn Close of Guardians of the Galaxy fame.

Demonstrations were staged nationwide to portray Trump’s leadership as autocratic, and these attracted thousands of participants. In the bustling city of New York, Ruffalo was snapped marching alongside Susan Sarandon, both waving an American flag and donning a cap marked “Immigrant.

During a recent interview with MSNBC, the Avengers actor compared the current state of American democracy to a crisis, stating, “Our democracy is in peril. We have a president who has seized power and acts as a king and dictator. The opposition doesn’t seem strong enough to protect our rights and uphold the Constitution. If we want freedom, we must be courageous.” Essentially, he implied that the people themselves are now like the Avengers.

Over the weekend, Mark Ruffalo joined the “No Kings” demonstrations, repeating the same lackluster falsehoods that contributed to the Democrats’ loss in the presidential election, which left many feeling awkward.

It clearly demonstrates that the insular perspective of Hollywood’s liberal community, regarding politics, has become even more oblivious.

In the video we just saw, Ruffalo likened Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to dictators such as Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un. Interestingly, he failed to mention Chinese President Xi Jinping, who governs a nation that significantly contributes to the box office earnings of Marvel movies.

Mark Ruffalo’s comments are quite direct. He’s likened the current U.S. President to a dictator, positioned himself as part of a resistance movement, and even used a Disney-owned intellectual property in his political discourse. This is clearly a strong political stance – one that has not resulted in any professional repercussions. In fact, Ruffalo remains a prominent figure in Disney’s Marvel franchise, with roles in upcoming projects like “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” and rumors of a significant part in this production, without any hint of disciplinary action.

They’re not acting solo: Julia Louis-Dreyfus, star of “Thunderbolts”, held up a sign at a protest saying, “My favorite monarch is a butterfly.” Marisa Tomei, known for her role as Aunt May in the Sony Marvel “Spider-Man” films, joined other activists in Los Angeles. Glenn Close also participated, sharing a video of herself protesting in Montana.

She stated that it’s the peaceful, united SPIRIT of MILLIONS of Americans who are determined not to allow our cherished, impressive nation from falling into the hands of a power-hungry leader and his heartless, cunning manipulators.

To rephrase, it appears that so far, none of the mentioned actresses have encountered any significant backlash from the public nor received any response from Disney, Marvel Studios, or their respective agents.

Now contrast that to the case of Gina Carano.

The actress who played The Mandalorian character was let go from Star Wars in 2021, following the posting of content on social media that cautioned against the risks of politically-motivated dehumanization. Previously, she had gained attention online due to her decision not to include pronouns in her Twitter bio, instead using a humorous reference to droids as a substitute.

The single decision sparked a substantial negative response on social media. However, it was her post using a historical analogy (without naming any contemporary figures) that Lucasfilm deemed “offensive and intolerable.” As a result, they stated she is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and has no future plans to be.

Carano’s dismissal was swift and decisive. The character she portrayed, Cara Dune, was abruptly excluded from all promotional materials, and her merchandise, including toys, were discreetly taken off store shelves. There were no discussions, no opportunities for redemption, and no tolerance for personal opinions.

It’s quite noticeable that public figures such as Ruffalo can openly criticize a sitting president by calling him a “king” and “dictator,” take part in massive protests, and support anti-government sentiments, yet they suffer no consequences from Disney or any of its related companies when they connect their Disney IPs to these statements. This suggests an apparent inconsistency or double standard in the treatment of such figures by Disney and its subsidiaries.

Meanwhile, Carano was terminated over a single post with no public platform to explain or respond.

Disney, Marvel Studios, and Lucasfilm have yet to address the discrepancies. Implicitly, this suggests that political discourse is accepted – provided it aligns with their preferred perspective.

At present, Carano is filing a lawsuit against Disney over claims of unjust dismissal and discrimination. These videos showing Marvel actors participating in the No Kings Day protests might become compelling evidence that her legal team can present.

If a company claims to prioritize “inclusivity,” then the handling of Gina Carano’s situation stirs up valid questions regarding equality, freedom of speech, and if certain voices within the entertainment industry may be afforded more protection than others.
