Marvel Snap Will Soon Let Players Receive Unowned Base Cards By Acquiring Their Variants

In an update on April 29th, 2025, Marvel Snap introduced Snap Packs as its latest method for obtaining cards in the game. This change comes at the expense of the previous system, Spotlight Caches. However, players will be given a grace period to continue using the old system and acquire the current week’s card, Hydra Stomper, until May 1st, 2025 through a mandatory update.

In simpler terms, Second Dinner has shared extra details and responses to commonly asked queries about Snap Packs on their official Discord server and later through a developer announcement. A noteworthy tidbit emerged from the FAQ section concerning the upcoming addition of base cards, which will be included in a future update.

Based on details revealed on the Marvel Snap Discord server and a developer post, Second Dinner has disclosed some new features coming to the Snap Packs system. These features include themed packs like “X-Men,” “Discard,” or “Creator’s Deck of the Week,” which are currently being developed, although the specific release dates have yet to be announced.

An extra function is being integrated into Marvel Snap. This feature will allow players to instantly obtain the base cards of variants they don’t already own, simply by acquiring the variant itself. The developer has confirmed that this benefit will be given free of charge and will even apply retroactively for all players, meaning those who previously missed out on base cards due to not having the corresponding variants can now obtain them too.

If Snappers get the Bullseye Dan Hipp variant card but don’t already have the Bullseye base card, they can get the base card for free by acquiring the Variant card. This feature is planned to come to Marvel Snap in a future update, though the exact timing of its release is yet to be confirmed.

In summary, a previous developer post indicated that Snapper players would receive a complimentary Series 5 Collector’s Pack upon updating their game client. However, due to a bug encountered by Second Dinner, as acknowledged by Senior Community Manager Griffin Bennett on Discord, the distribution of these packs has been temporarily paused. The development team is currently working to resolve this issue, at which point they will send the free packs to all Snapper players.
