As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that this guide for Marvel Snap is nothing short of comprehensive! It covers everything from future updates and card pools to game guides and buying options. If you’re new to the game or a seasoned player looking to hone your skills, this guide has got you covered.
Some Marvel Snap enthusiasts, both creators and players, stumbled upon adjustments in the Infinity Split mechanism, unbeknownst to the wider community. These alterations ignited a wave of criticism as people questioned why they weren’t informed or warned about these stealth changes. Second Dinner, the developer, swiftly addressed player concerns and launched investigations into the matter.
After the most recent game update, the developer distributed rewards to all players. These rewards appeared in their Inbox, but they were expected to update the game first. However, these rewards sparked some frustration within the community as several players felt that the compensation didn’t adequately cover the Credits, Gold, Boosters, and real-world money they had spent on splitting cards. Consequently, they demanded explanations from the developer about this issue.
Have you been struggling with splitting recently? It seems to be more about Marvel’s snap rather than your skills.

Following the weekly update, Second Dinner disclosed that Infinity Split rewards were distributed to players via their Inbox. These rewards included a Rainbow Cosmic Border and an X-Men ’97 Magneto variant card. The gifts sparked varied responses within the Marvel Snap community as some players and content creators highlighted they had invested considerable resources, such as credits, Gold, and Boosters, to enhance cards before and beyond Infinity Split, during the time when it was malfunctioning. This led to demands for refunds of currencies among certain requests.
For those who might be new or well-versed in the Infinity Split debate, content creators LaurenWhatevs and Snap Variants collaborated to explore the sudden occurrence of “bad luck” related to splits. According to Snap Variants, the source of this issue can be traced back to the patch update on August 20th, 2024. Using a group of 36 Marvel Snap players and data from the game’s launch in October 2022, they found that after the mentioned patch update, the rates for Ink and Gold Finishes, as well as Krackle Flare splits, decreased significantly. The most substantial drop was observed in God splits (a combination of Ink or Gold finish with a Krackle Flare) based on their findings from the analysis of the participant pool’s Collections.
It’s strongly suggested that players check out LaurenWhatevs’ Twitter thread about the suspected “hidden nerfs” in splits, which led to a swift reaction from the developer who had already looked into the matter and shared updates promptly. In response, Senior Community Manager Griffin Bennett took to social media to express gratitude towards LaurenWhatevs and the development team for identifying, investigating, and resolving the split issue.
Let’s make it plain: This “compensation” is quite good as a form of apology.

@seconddinner@GriffinWB
What is the reasoning here? Compensation should be tied to losses, to make injured parties whole again. People spent credits, boosters, and money to split cards when the rates were lowered. A border and variant don’t address the problem at all.

What about all the times we searched for krackle, gold, and ink by splitting resources? I understand that not everything will be recovered, but I’ve been trying my 24th Cosmo split without finding any krackle, most of which have been in the past month. All I’m asking for is to get some splits back.

Hey @seconddinner and @GriffinWB, it seems there was a misstep in this case. I invested a significant amount of credits and gold enhancing variants while the splits weren’t functioning correctly. I kindly request that you either re-split my cards with the bonus or refund my currencies, please.

On October 12th, 2024, an update was issued to adjust the Infinity Split rate in response to changes. This updated rate will be maintained until a patch update scheduled for mid-December 2024. After this weekly refresh went live on October 15th, 2024, Bennett announced through the Marvel Snap Discord server that extra compensation for the Split rate problem, in addition to the current Infinity Split rate increase, was given out. Concurrently, this issue was also implemented. (Credit goes to ZombiesGoNomNom)
Users voiced their disappointment over the compensation issue on social media platforms, claiming that they invested a significant amount of Credits, Gold, and Boosters in order to obtain split cards, but instead received a variant card and border – a move they found frustrating. Generally, there seems to be agreement among players based on online responses that they would be satisfied if they were compensated with free resources or currencies as they had spent real-world money purchasing Gold bundles, which were then used for purchasing additional Credits to upgrade or split cards.
Previously, the developer has faced criticism over inadequate pay, dating back to the Gambit variant dispute several months ago; it’s still uncertain if Second Dinner will manage this issue more effectively than they did with the Gambit incident. As discussions about the Marvel Snap community’s compensation continue online, we are yet to receive any statement from the developer regarding the recent distribution of payment.
