As a lifelong Marvel fan and avid gamer, I must admit, my anticipation for the upcoming release of Marvel Rivals has reached new heights! The reveal of Venom’s Space Knight skin is just the cherry on top (or should I say, the symbiote on top?) of an already exciting lineup. The cosmic battles in this game are shaping up to be nothing short of epic, and as a fan who has read countless issues of Venom comics, I can’t wait to see how they translate into gameplay.
With less than a week until Marvel Rivals launches worldwide on early December 2024, NetEase Games has shared some enticing updates for players to explore. As we eagerly await its release, the developer’s daily announcements have become increasingly tantalizing, particularly for one character in particular.
NetEase Games unveiled the upcoming playable character featured in their most recent Rivals Assemble video, shared across various digital and social media outlets. This revelation coincided with the daily news announcement that this new character is Eddie Brock / Venom. Remarkably, they followed up by releasing the Kyntar: Symbiote Surface Map Reveal trailer shortly after.

In just eight days, console and PC gamers will get their first glimpse of a new cosmetic skin for Venom, known as the Space Knight skin, which is set to be released shortly. This design is heavily influenced by its comic book counterpart from Venom: Space Knight (2015) #1, where the venomized anti-hero undergoes a string of space-themed adventures, depicted in a series of chaotic encounters during this comic’s run.
Previously, we mentioned a connection between the skin announcement and the Kyntar: Symbiote Surface Map Reveal trailer. In that trailer, it’s suggested that the Guardians of the Galaxy were on a mission leading to the Milano crashing in what appeared to be the remnants of an organization known as the Agents of the Cosmos. Given that these agents were symbiotes who had imprisoned Knull on his homeworld of Klyntar, they might have established this organization to maintain universal and possibly multiversal peacekeeping within Marvel Rivals’ narrative context.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but get excited about the map reveal trailer, hinting at an epic showdown between the Guardians and Venom at Klyntar. It seems that Venom has been elevated to an Agent of the Cosmos, as the skin description indicates. The battle will revolve around “the impending peril,” which appears to be Knull himself, as Venom grapples with the tough decision of choosing whose side to stand on. I eagerly anticipate uncovering more backstory when the skin is released, likely coinciding with the launch and subsequent map debut during Season 0 of Marvel Rivals.
