As a hardcore Marvel fan who’s been following this game since its announcement, I must say, it feels like Christmas came early! The experimental update for Marvel Rivals is just what the doctor ordered. I’ve been eagerly waiting to get my hands on those balance adjustments for Hulk and Storm, characters I’ve grown quite fond of during my countless hours in the beta.
Last weekend, NetEase Games, the developers behind Marvel Rivals, shared information with their players about a series of modifications they’re testing out, which they’ve labeled as “experimental.” These alterations, covering balance adjustments, game enhancements, and bug corrections, are now ready for player testing on both consoles and PC platforms.
After the Closed Beta ends on August 5th, 2024 at 7 am UTC, 3 am ET, or 12 am PT, there will be a brief, exclusive trial available on the Playtest portal. During this trial, an update will be deployed, inviting players to join and experience some fresh modifications in the superhero team-based PvP shooter.

On August 4th, 2024, NetEase Games announced via their Twitter account that an update for the game would be accessible to players who have access to the Closed Beta Test Playtest portal. This “trial update” includes tweaks to character balance, specifically Hulk and Storm, inviting players to join a “limited-scale test” following the conclusion of the Closed Beta Test.
In summary, this “small-scale trial” will prolong the Closed Beta Test by an additional six hours, wrapping up the test at 1 pm UTC, 9 am ET, or 6 am PT. This extra time gives players a chance to try out new features such as DLSS Frame Generation, examine the improvements made, and resolve some reported issues like the crash that affected slow-loading HDDs.
