Big events in comic books often involve characters dying, and with the upcoming conclusion of the Ultimate Universe, it was expected that the ‘Ultimate Endgame‘ storyline would include some deaths. Still, the first major character to die in the Marvel Comics event came as a real surprise.
Ultimate Endgame #3, written by Deniz Camp and illustrated by Terry Dodson and Jonas Scharf, intensified the conflict in this large-scale story. The series follows the heroes from Marvel’s Ultimate Universe as they battle the forces of the Maker. At the same time, a team consisting of Spider-Man, America Chavez, Doctor Doom, and Tony Stark infiltrated the Maker’s headquarters to challenge the villain who has reshaped their world.
The heroes were hopelessly outmatched. The Maker had the power to change reality itself within his own realm. They did get a surprising ally in Kang, who said he was a future version of Tony Stark. But when Kang wouldn’t fight the Maker, Doom destroyed Kang’s time machine, effectively erasing him from existence.
Doom figured it didn’t matter whether Kang was real or not, as long as he wouldn’t engage in battle. Either way, Kang’s arrival gave the current Tony Stark the breathing room he needed to come up with a strategy, and that seemed to be what truly worried the Maker.
What Marvel hero dies in Ultimate Endgame #3?
After the heroes protected Tony from the Maker, he retaliated by attempting to destroy them one by one. He began with Peter Parker, targeting him with his advanced symbiote suit. Then, transforming into Carnage, he brutally attacked Peter while cruelly reminding him that his sacrifices had been in vain.
Mary Jane Watson seemed to feel Peter’s death happening, waking up and crying for no apparent reason in the middle of the night. The comic ended with a letter Peter had written in case he died as Spider-Man. It was a touching farewell to this version of Spider-Man and a fitting end to the Ultimate Spider-Man series.
Ultimate Endgame #3 is now available at comic shops everywhere.
