Marvel Comics is headed back to Planet Hulk with a new one-shot, Return to Planet Hulk.
The Marvel Comics series called Planet Hulk unfolded mainly in the issues of The Incredible Hulk during the 2000s, penned by Greg Pak. This narrative has the Hulk getting exiled to the alien planet Sakaar, following a decision by the Illuminati that he’s too hazardous to remain on Earth. Upon arrival, the Hulk is compelled to participate in lethal gladiator battles for the amusement of the emperor, but eventually orchestrates a rebellion that leads to him being crowned as the new ruler.
What do we know about Return to Planet Hulk?
Artist Carlos Pagulayan, along with Pak (who was part of the initial plot development), are returning to the planet Sakaar for a new adventure titled “Return to Planet Hulk,” set to hit shelves in October.
In a gripping first-person account, I can’t help but exclaim my excitement for an upcoming cinematic spectacle: “Prepare yourself for unrelenting carnage as the Green Goliath, having narrowly evaded the Red King’s lethal arena, embarks on a life-or-death struggle across the ravaged planet of Sakaar. Here, the Hulk encounters fearsome beasts, shatters through malevolent machinery, and wrestles with robotic horrors beyond comprehension – all in one of his most critical battles for existence! The stakes have never been higher, with two distinct destinies at play: the SAKAARSON, the planet’s savior, or the WORLDBREAKER, the legendary wrecker! Will his rage escalate the chaos of this alien realm?

In a statement, Pak expressed his continued delight in working on “Planet Hulk” throughout his comics career. He’s deeply appreciative of the enduring affection readers have shown for this storyline over the years. This 20th anniversary special is a tribute and heartfelt thank you to everyone involved. It also offers another adventure into the ominous psyche of the Green Scar, contributing further to the intriguing lore of Sakaar. Collaborating with Carlo Pagulayan and Mark Paniccia once more is a joy, as it feels like they never stopped working together, making it feel like coming home.
Return to Planet Hulk arrives on October 8, 2025.
