Marvel Boss Comments On Possibility Of Chris Evans And Robert Downey Jr. Returning To MCU

As a longtime Marvel fan and avid follower of both Robert Downey Jr.’s and Chris Evans’ careers, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as I reflect on their iconic portrayals of Iron Man and Captain America in the MCU. Their on-screen chemistry was electric, and their characters became more than just superheroes – they were symbols of hope, courage, and resilience.

Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans brought to life two beloved and pivotal characters in The Avengers team as Iron Man and Captain America respectively within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, after the climactic finale of Avengers: Endgame, it appears that they have departed from the MCU. Yet, is a return possible for these esteemed actors?

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, shared with Discussing Film that Hugh Jackman’s potential return as Wolverine in Deadpool or Wolverine could illustrate that such an occurrence can be executed effectively if managed skillfully.

Feige expressed his excitement about finding the right approach to continue the story of Wolverine while preserving its previous elements. For the past two years, they have been working diligently to achieve this goal. As a positive sign, Hugh Jackman’s appearance and leading role in Deadpool and Wolverine indicates that it is possible with careful planning. We look forward to seeing what lies ahead for Wolverine.

In his own words, Downey Jr. has expressed interest in reprising his role as Iron Man several times. He recently mentioned that this character is the most similar to himself among all the roles he’s ever taken on. Additionally, he has surprised himself by becoming more open to the idea of donning the suit once again.

At first, Downey Jr. decided to take a break from Marvel to resume his acting career. This decision proved beneficial for him, resulting in his first Oscar win for “Oppenheimer” earlier this year.

Regarding Evans, he hasn’t definitively decided against reprising his role as Captain America once more. However, he’s made it clear that financial gains aren’t his sole motivation. In the 2025 film “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson character assumes the mantle of Captain America instead.

I’m thrilled to share that the next Avengers installment is currently being developed with an impressive lineup of up to 60 Marvel Cinematic Universe characters! On a more personal note, as a devoted fan, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming Marvel film: Deadpool & Wolverine, set to hit theaters on July 26.
