The show gave a nod to the popular series Yellowstone in its latest episode by mentioning the character Rip Wheeler. The show’s creator, Spencer Hudnut, has since hinted at whether this means Rip Wheeler might actually appear on the show later this season.
On the March 8th episode of Marshals, titled “Zone of Death,” Tate Dutton asks his father, Kayce Dutton, who will be in charge of East Camp while Tate starts his job as a U.S. Marshal. Kayce replies that Rip has already found some temporary help until a long-term solution can be found.
TVLine noticed Rip Wheeler was mentioned in Marshals, and asked whether this meant Cole Hauser might reprise the role later in the season. Executive producer Hudnut confirmed that some characters from the Yellowstone universe will appear this season, but wouldn’t say if Rip was one of them.
The show’s creator hinted that Kayce’s sister, Beth, and her husband, Rip, could reappear in the story at some point, but admitted figuring out how to make that happen would be a challenge.
Hudnut described how welcoming the show Marshals is to characters from Yellowstone, saying, “Yellowstone is the biggest show of the last two decades, and we’d be thrilled if anyone from it wanted to join us.”
Marshals Stars 4 Returning Yellowstone Actors
So far, the only actors from Yellowstone who have appeared in Marshals are Luke Grimes (as Kayce Dutton), Gil Birmingham (as Thomas Rainwater), Brecken Merrill (as Tate Dutton), and Moses Brings Plenty (as Mo). They all have regular roles on the CBS series.
New episodes of Marshals air Sundays on CBS.
