Markiplier reveals plans to help indie filmmakers put movies on YouTube after Iron Lung success

Markiplier is working to simplify the process for independent filmmakers to share their movies on YouTube. He hopes to create a system where uploading a film is just as straightforward as uploading a regular video.

Markiplier’s first horror movie, Iron Lung, will be available to watch on YouTube Movies, he announced in a live stream on April 20th.

True to form, Markiplier is also aiming to make it easier for other creators to share their films on the platform, cutting through the usual complicated processes required for online releases.

Markiplier suggested to Fede Goldenberg, YouTube’s head of TV & Film, that he could help other creators get their films onto the platform by acting as a distributor.

So, I was listening to the creator talk to Goldenberg, and he basically said he wants to release Iron Lung for sale! But he’s worried it’s hard for people to find and get into, especially now that it’s been successful. He thinks we could use the movie’s current popularity to build something bigger – like a platform that brings together similar indie games, and he wants Goldenberg to help him create it. It sounds like he wants to become a kind of hub for these types of projects!

I’d be able to offer my own movie for sale on the platform, and also feature other films I believe in. This would make it easier for viewers to find great content without dealing with complicated processes.
