Mariska Hargitay Thrilled as Kelli Giddish Returns to Law & Order: SVU!

I’m thrilled beyond words to soon be reunited on-screen with my good friend Kelli Giddish, who’s set to make her return. Off-camera, we’ve shared a strong bond for quite some time, and it seems our characters will continue to nurture that connection as well.

She’s a fantastic actress and a truly inspiring collaborator who has played an essential role in the heart of SVU. I adore her, enjoy acting alongside her, and cherish our creative endeavors together. Her return feels like coming home, and I can’t wait for it!

During the middle of Season 24, Mariska Hargitay parted ways with the series, as her character, Detective Amanda Rollins, decided to pursue a teaching career at Fordham University and left the Special Victims Unit. However, in later seasons, Hargitay reprised her role on occasion, appearing only as a guest star. In Season 26, she provided updates on Rollins’ character, revealing that she had advanced to the rank of sergeant within the NYPD Intelligence Bureau. During a short conversation with Captain Olivia Benson (played by Hargitay), Rollins expressed her enjoyment of her new role.

Sergeant Amanda Rollins Has Found Domestic Bliss

In Season 26, Amanda revealed that she had found her happy ending, which included getting married and having a new baby, thus expanding her family to three children. Regarding her ongoing relationship with Benson, she mentioned that it continues to evolve.

Giddish noted that her strong foundation with Carisi significantly impacts the choices she believes she can make, as well as boosting her confidence to control her life and make intriguing yet beneficial decisions.

In Law & Order: SVU‘s upcoming Season 27, viewers can look forward to Benson and Rollins tackling fresh cases together. Previous hints were dropped in Season 26 as they teamed up to apprehend a criminal tourist. However, Rollins is currently assigned to a different unit, which may add complexity to their professional dynamic.

She remarked, “She’s currently discussing matters with the NYPD’s upper echelons.” It’s evident that she’s delivering important details to other members of the New York Police Department from these vantage points. The actor continued by explaining, “Given her unique perspective and highly specialized knowledge, this promotion aligns well with her elevated position within the police department.

In 2011, Kelli first appeared on “SVU” and has been a part of the series ever since, starring in a total of 258 episodes. In May 2024, Mariska Hargitay expressed, “Kelli is like family to me.” She continued, “Kelli is my soul. That bond was one of the most impactful relationships on television because you witnessed these two strong women, each with their own imperfections, standing by each other unwaveringly.
