Mario Kart World Will Reportedly Flip It And Feature Reverse Courses

Similar to how the Cha Cha Slide allows dancers to go backwards and forwards, Mario Kart World might offer players the ability to reverse their progress in the game’s courses. This could potentially serve as a new alternative to Mirror Mode, which has been a consistent feature since Mario Kart 64. However, Nintendo has not yet confirmed this change.

Instead, NintendoSoup came across a video from what appears to be a Japanese advertisement showcasing a reversed version of Mario Bros.’ Circuit track. Interestingly, this was the initial track shown during the unveiling of the Switch 2 console in January, subtly hinting at a new installment in the Mario Kart series. It’s worth mentioning that the mini-map suggests the course isn’t just flipped but reversed as well.

To date, there are 32 courses set for Mario Kart World, but this count doesn’t include Knockout Tour tracks and Free Roam. If we consider a reverse option, it would bring the total to 64 courses, potentially for the renowned Grand Prix mode in the exclusive Switch 2 title. This game is slated to debut alongside the system on June 5.

Previously this month, Nintendo disclosed that Mario Kart World initially began as an exclusive game for the Nintendo Switch. During discussions about the game, it was mentioned that a whimsical drawing served as inspiration for Cow to become a playable character. To date, over 50 new characters have been spotted in Mario Kart World, with a record-breaking 24 racers on a course simultaneously for the first time ever within the franchise.
