Mario Kart World Will Bring Back The Franchise’s Most Iconic Track, It Appears

The highly anticipated Mario Kart World 2 for Switch has been officially revealed, yet there’s no confirmation about the legendary Rainbow Road track. However, a sneaky peek from Nintendo Korea’s site suggests it may be making a comeback, hinting at Rainbow Road’s potential return.

According to Eurogamer, an image suggesting the return of Rainbow Road was briefly displayed on the Nintendo Korea website for Mario Kart World, before being taken down. The image appears to hint that this iconic track could be located in the Mario Kart World map, possibly near Princess Peach’s Castle.

Rainbow Road has finally been found. It seems it will be unlocked later in the game.

Catching up? In Mario Kart World, players navigate through an expansive, interconnected environment where you can drive from one track to another. At a recent Switch 2 demonstration, press members had a chance to test out Mario Kart World, although they only experienced a small portion of the game’s open-world layout.

It’s almost impossible to imagine that Rainbow Road won’t be included in Mario Kart World, but it seems that Nintendo is planning a grand reveal at a later time instead of during the April 17 Nintendo Direct focused on Mario Kart World. The company has hinted that this event will disclose plenty more information about the game to persuade people that it’s worth spending $80 for.

Nintendo Korea’s website for Donkey Kong: Bananza, meanwhile, leaked some important details, too.

Mario Kart World serves as one of the debut games for the Switch 2, being released concurrently with the console on June 5th. To learn more about it, take a look at TopMob’s early hands-on preview where they referred to it as an “ambitious sequel.
