Nintendo recently issued a significant update (Version 1.1.1) for its debut game for the Switch 2, Mario Kart World, following its launch. This update predominantly addresses and rectifies various bugs that have been reported, as opposed to introducing substantial fresh features.
Similar to many Nintendo exclusive games, Mario Kart World was meticulously crafted and well-polished upon its release, as indicated by TopMob’s review labeling it a “large-scale sequel that playfully builds on the elements that made Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so popular and enduring.” However, despite the game’s polish, some technical issues were overlooked. These issues included instances where items couldn’t be used, the game crashing after watching a replay or completing an Online Play race, and difficulties in controlling characters during Free Roam. For a comprehensive list of known issues and their fixes, please refer to the patch notes below:
Fixed Issues
- Fixed an issue where items were no longer able to be used.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes controls were inoperable when selecting a character and trying to start Free Roam from the “Free Roam” map.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down when watching replay after a race.
- Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down after a race in “Online Play.”
- Fixed an issue where rate fluctuations were sometimes displayed incorrectly in “Knockout Tour” and “Online Play.”
- Fixed an issue where it was easy for a communication error to occur when trying to join Friends playing “VS Race” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
- Fixed an issue where you sometimes slipped through the wall before the finish line of “DK Spaceport.”
- Fixed an issue where you sometimes couldn’t return to correct position after falling of the course between “Airship Fortress” and “Bowser’s Castle” while gliding.
If you were anticipating that Version 1.1.1 of Mario Kart World might introduce fresh content in the Free Roam or other modes, I regret to inform you that there are currently no announced plans for post-launch updates from Nintendo beyond these patch fixes.
The new update has been released! It should download automatically. If it doesn’t, ensure you’re connected to the internet, then press either the ‘+’ or ‘-‘ button on your controller near the Mario Kart World game icon. Once there, go to the Software Update sub-menu and select “Update via Internet.
Mario Kart: World has just been released and can only be played on the Nintendo Switch 2. The game offers numerous exciting features, such as the well-known Easter egg based on Totaka’s Song, a staple in many Nintendo titles, and Mirror Mode, which reverses the entire Free Roam open world.
