Marianne Métivier’s ‘The Splendour of Life,’ Starring Camille Rutherford, Picked Up by H264 (EXCLUSIVE)

The Montreal-based film distribution and international sales company H264 has obtained both the global sales rights and Canadian distribution rights for Marianne Métivier’s debut feature film, titled “The Splendour of Life.

This movie features Camille Rutherford, known for “Anatomy of a Fall”, Garance Marillier from “Raw”, Amaryllis Tremblay of “Genèse” and Kyrie Samodio in “Hito”. The storyline weaves through two settings, rural and urban. A pivotal encounter alters the lives of four women, prompting them to decide whether to end or begin a fresh chapter. The movie is described as a “tempting call to embrace life wholeheartedly.

The movie was made by Geneviève Gosselin-G. at Le Foyer Films in Canada, co-produced by Wilfredo Manalang at Fusee in the Philippines, and assisted in production by Alexa Rivero at Altamar Films in France.

Métivier is a filmmaker hailing from Montreal, with both Quebecois and Filipino roots. Her short film “She Who Wears the Rain” (2019) made it to the Berlinale Shorts Competition in 2020. She’s currently working on her debut documentary called “Back Home,” a project that secured her a development grant at the Talent Lab of the Montreal International Documentary Festival in 2020. In 2023, her work was chosen by Torino Feature Lab.

Her work primarily delves into the feeling of connection to locations and our interactions with the unseen, as suggested by the statement.
