Margot Robbie’s Office Features Iconic Chairs from Her Blockbuster Barbie Movie!

The Barbie film starring Margot Robbie was an enormous success upon its debut, and it has had lasting impacts on viewers, the film industry, and surprisingly, interior design. Notably, the Greta Gerwig-directed movie is a notable element in the office spaces of Margot Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment. Contrary to popular belief, they didn’t turn everything pink!

In a recent video for Architectural Digest, Margot Robbie showcases the offices of her production company LuckyChap Entertainment. Notably, some of the chairs in one corridor were originally used as props on the set of ‘Barbie’. Robbie mentioned…

In the Barbie film, the chairs you see in the Mattel CEO’s office where the Mattel team is seated comfortably on pink chairs – those very chairs have been given a fresh upholstery makeover.

In a somewhat unexpected twist, comedian Will Ferrell portrayed the CEO of Mattel in the movie “Barbie.” His character and the fictionalized representation of the corporation added an unusual flavor to the film. Interestingly, the production itself, which was partially funded by Mattel, wasn’t shy about poking fun at the toy company. Not all jokes aimed at the brand were met with unanimous approval from the higher-ups, but in the end, everything seemed to fall into place satisfactorily.

In the revamped version, the chairs you see aren’t at all like those from the Barbie film. After being reupholstered, they seem unfamiliar and don’t play a significant role in the movie. Robbie didn’t intend to incorporate a piece of the popular movie into the production company offices by reusing these chairs; instead, it was a practical decision. They were very costly, and she wanted to avoid unnecessary waste. The actress went on…

At the conclusion of the film, I found myself wondering about the fate of those rather pricey seats, thinking aloud, ‘Hold on, what will become of these chairs?’

Since my production company, LuckyChap Entertainment (headed by Margot Robbie), was the one behind the movie “Barbie”, it was essentially my funds that bought those chairs in the first place. Instead of disposing or donating them like most film sets do, it made sense for me as both an actress and producer to utilize those resources I had invested in. Thus, reusing them is a sensible way to maximize their value.

Fundamentally, Margot Robbie was simply a business proprietor aiming to cut costs, and I find everything about this situation fascinating. Instead of drawing attention to the fact that the chairs were from Barbie and creating a spectacle around them, they remain unused in spaces like the conference room or waiting area where more people could observe and admire them.

Instead of props, these items are now functioning as office equipment and they play a significant role in actual work tasks. I must admit, it would be quite fascinating to occupy even just one of the seats showcased in one of cinema’s most popular films. Here’s to those who get to sit in those chairs from Barbie, may they appreciate their history too.
