Marathon surges into Steam’s top sellers – overtaking Arc Raiders

The upcoming game Marathon is already a top seller on Steam, surprisingly surpassing its competitor, Arc Raiders, just one week before its release.

At the time of writing, Bungie’s new shooter climbed up to third place on Steam’s top sellers list in the United States. It currently sits firmly in third place, with only Resident Evil Requiem and Counter-Strike 2 above it in the top spots.

Marathon is now the third most profitable game of the week, based on recent earnings. This is a significant jump – it’s climbed 58 places in the rankings and has entered the top 100 for the first time.

Arc Raiders, often compared to The Cycle: Frontier as a similar game, is currently fifth in popularity. It’s more popular than Mewgenics, but less popular than Warframe.

Marathon climbs the Steam chart despite shaky reveal

With excitement building for the upcoming game Marathon, a free trial called Server Slam starts on February 26th. This will give most players their first chance to play, and let those who are undecided see if they enjoy it before the game officially launches on March 5th.

We don’t have precise sales numbers, and this chart only reflects one platform, but it appears there’s currently strong interest in the game. Many fans are purchasing it right away to be among the first players.

The game’s development wasn’t without its challenges. Originally planned for release in September 2025, it received a somewhat lukewarm response when first announced. Then, a plagiarism issue led to further delays.

More recent gameplay footage and private test sessions have been well-received, suggesting Bungie may have improved how people view the game.
