Marathon Closed Alpha Begins In April, Here’s How To Sign Up

Excitedly speaking as a gaming enthusiast, I couldn’t help but share the thrilling news from Bungie’s unveiling event for their upcoming title, Marathon! They’ve revealed plans for a closed alpha test, and here’s how you can join the ranks and secure your access.

Starting towards the end of this month, the closed alpha for The Marathon begins, and players have an opportunity to participate if they join the official Marathon Discord server. Bungie’s teams plan to be actively involved in the Discord community, hosting live Q&A sessions, as well as sharing updates and insights about the project directly with fans.

Marathon refers to a multiplayer game that involves team-based shooting for resource extraction. It serves as a follow-up to Bungie’s 1994 title with the same name, although Bungie is now more widely recognized for their work on Destiny and Halo series. The original Marathon was one of Bungie’s initial major triumphs when it launched for Mac and Apple Pippin computers.

1995 saw the release of Marathon 2: Durandal, followed by Marathon Infinity in 1996. However, it was only in 2001 that Bungie achieved widespread success with the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved.

Although Sony currently owns Bungie, the upcoming Marathon game won’t be exclusive to PlayStation 5. Instead, it’ll also be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC systems. What’s more, cross-play functionality will allow players on all platforms to compete or collaborate together. Notably, Marathon represents Bungie’s significant new project since their acquisition by Sony in 2022.
