Mang0 “no longer invited” to Ludwig’s events after getting drunk & harassing streamers

Legendary Super Smash Bros. Melee player Mang0 has been disqualified from attending future events run by Ludwig, following allegations of harassing several women while intoxicated.

Throughout his professional journey, Mang0’s persona often incorporates alcohol, leading to several instances of inebriated behavior. He’s hosted events like “Drunk December,” where his streams center around attempting to drink heavily every day throughout the month, and has faced temporary bans from Twitch due to excessive intoxication.

To put it simply, things escalated beyond my comfort zone at Ludwig’s Super Beerio Kart bash. It wasn’t just about winning the race; it was also about keeping my cool while sipping progressively stronger brews.

Eventually, Mang0 became excessively intoxicated, leading him to inappropriately touch others during the gathering. This behavior made the streamers feel uneasy, causing Ludwig to prohibit Mang0 from participating in any future events.

Mang0 is “reevaluating” his relationship with alcohol

Despite his past victories in Beerio Kart tournaments, Mang0 was eliminated prematurely this time. After his elimination, he started wandering near several streamers, making them uneasy by coming too close to them.

Streamer Maya appeared clearly uneasy as he repeatedly mimicked dancing movements near her head. Additionally, he displayed similar actions towards other streamers such as Cinna, ExtraEmily, Ludwig, and even at one instance, was found grinding against a self-portrait cardboard cutout in the corner.

As a gamer myself, I’ve got to admit, Mang0’s behavior at that event left me scratching my head. He’s got a family, a wife, and a kid, which makes his actions towards others all the more puzzling. It’s like he’s playing a game in real life, but we’re still trying to figure out the rules!

He responded after clips of his actions that evening spread around, saying this:

I dislike relying on the ‘drunk’ excuse since it seems immature, but in the heat of the moment, I often feel everyone else is just as intoxicated as me. However, that’s rarely true. I plan to privately apologize to anyone I may have made uncomfortable and hope for their understanding and forgiveness.

He made another declaration, asserting that he will fully own up to his actions and intends to assume complete accountability for them.

He admitted, “I believe most of my troubles originate from excessive alcohol consumption. Therefore, I’m going to reassess my connection with alcohol. I’m ready to face whatever consequences may arise as a result.

Undeniably, Ludwig made it clear that Mang0 would not be extended invitations to events he organizes. He stated this privilege is reserved for individuals who don’t cause discomfort to others, and he prefers an atmosphere free of such discomfort at his events.

He stated that the main purpose of an event is to provide enjoyment and a great experience. If someone’s actions interfere with others enjoying themselves, then such behavior should not occur. He has noticed many discussions on wider issues. However, his focus is solely on his team and their events.

Since 2014, Mang0 has remained a constant member of Cloud9, demonstrating loyalty to the organization throughout various controversies related to his alcohol consumption. Known as one of the original Melee legends, he continues to represent Cloud9 in competitions today.

At present, Cloud9 hasn’t issued any statement concerning his evening activities, and he hasn’t been disqualified from any competitions due to this ongoing scandal. Nevertheless, numerous Smash Bros. enthusiasts are advocating for a tournament suspension or ban based on his actions.
