Scott Kelly, who recently became famous for his resume at a Jonas Brothers concert, says he wasn’t actually looking for a job when he handed it out.
People have always found inventive methods to make their resumes stand out. This has included everything from traditional advertising like billboards and newspaper ads, to more direct approaches like unannounced company visits, and leveraging social media to gain attention.
Scott Kelly’s resume unexpectedly went viral on November 10th. It became a TikTok trend after a recruiter was spotted looking at it while attending a Jonas Brothers concert.
A TikTok video posted by Your Girl Jen has gone viral, racking up over 55 million views and thousands of encouraging comments from people offering Kelly job opportunities. Surprisingly, Kelly wasn’t actually seeking employment.
Scott Kelly admits he is “happily employed” despite viral resume
I was so surprised to see Kelly, who’s been with the Jonas Brothers since their very first viral video, getting interviewed on Good Morning America about everything! It’s crazy to think how far they’ve all come.
The veteran explained he wasn’t looking for a new job at the moment, and that the recruiter, Brandon, was a former army buddy. “We served together in the army years ago,” he shared with GMA.
He’s currently enjoying his job, but his recent popularity has led to a lot of attention on LinkedIn. He admits it’s difficult to overlook interesting job offers that are now coming his way, and he’s considering them.
The veteran also mentioned he’s now friends with the Jonas Brothers, who have given him tickets to any of their concerts he’d like to see.
He confessed he didn’t recognize them initially, explaining, “I’ve never been great with pop culture.”
He also met Jen, the TikTok creator who helped make him famous, and expressed his gratitude for her showing his resume on her videos.
