Mary Steenburgen is joining “A Man on the Inside” Season 2 at Netflix, EbMaster has learned.
In this show, Steenburgen’s acting role is a personal connection as she stars alongside her real-life spouse, Ted Danson, who plays the lead character. According to the official synopsis, the series follows Charles (Danson), a man who, after retiring, finds a second chance when he responds to an ad from a private investigator and secretly infiltrates an ongoing investigation.
Steenburgen’s character will be Mona Margadoff, a retired musician who plays a significant role in the case that Charles is investigating. Production for season 2 is set to start in April.

For the second time within two months, a married couple has been paired up in the second season of a Netflix comedy series. Earlier, it was exclusively revealed by EbMaster that Leighton Meester would feature in Season 2 of “Nobody Wants This,” which stars her spouse, Adam Brody. In a similar fashion, Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson have collaborated multiple times before, most recently on “Mr. Mayor” and “The Good Place.” They’ve also worked together in productions like “Pontiac Moon” and “Gulliver’s Travels.
In November 2024, ‘A Man on the Inside’ Season 1 was warmly welcomed by viewers and critics alike. This single-camera comedy stayed in the Top 10 English TV shows on Netflix for five consecutive weeks. Danon’s performance in the series garnered him nominations for both Golden Globe and SAG Awards. Impressively, Netflix decided to renew the show for a second season just weeks after its premiere.
The show is inspired by the documentary “The Mole Agent.” Mike Schur takes on the role of creator and executive producer through Fremulon. Additionally, Morgan Sackett serves as an executive producer, alongside David Miner from 3 Arts Entertainment, Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez from Micromundo Producciones, and Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements from Motto Pictures. Universal Television is the production company behind it.
